Well, I managed to kill most of my tomato and pepper starts this year due to overwatering and too much fertilizer so yesterday morning I drove into Houston and bought great looking plants from Wabash Feed Store and planted in one of my raised bed. This morning I drove to Conroe to Natures Way Resources and picked more great looking tomato and pepper plants and I have those planted now. In total I have 18 tomato and 9 pepper plants in my garden. The tomatoes include Big Beef, Sweet 100, Eva Purple Ball, Cherokee Purple, and Paul Roberson. The peppers include Gypsy, Poblano, and one Gold bell pepper. I don't think we will have any more freezes this year as the lowest temp this winter was 31 degrees and that was for a very short period, right after sun up.

it's 81 in the shade, 62 in the ground and the forecasted Sunday storms have pushed to Tuesday. I just prepped two rows for 19 plants, about half of our total. Have backups and row cover and expect to risk a row or two tomorrow. (It might be too wet next weekend) Never put out 6 week olds before, always 8 or 10 or 12. These young'uns should be easier to cover if required. Thanks for the thread

Whistech,
I did the same thing with a tray of tomato seedlings. They were the tiny and unhealthy looking plants that I thought, "Why not give them a chance?" I didn't think about the water that I used in the planting mix being a 50% MG solution. The picture says it all - |

Sold some pepper and tomato plants to a lady today I offered to give them to her but she gave me what little cash she had no big deal.
Just glad to be rid of them. Worth |

Good for you Texans.
I have just done preparing my raised beds : A layer of black plastic and a layer of clear plastic. By early April the soil should be warm enough to take the plants. This is just a sample. |

I just turned on accuweather for the DFW area. Delkus was talking about lows of 32F for Denton and Collin Counties - 35 most everywhere else nearby.
NOAA is saying upper 30s tonight. |

This way they can look in your trash without getting their hands dirty. I have been looking at Salts weather and Dallas/Forth Worth weather. For some inexplicable reason the lows up there have been a little higher them mine. I made it through last night so I know you guys did that planted out early. Worth |
