Here's another inexpensive method on YouTube. I figured if the first method I posted didn't work for me, I'd try this one. So far I haven't needed to try this one.

Virtual Fence
So in spite of my 6 ft. fence around my garden, deer were beginning to eat things, turned some of my Romano beans into Bush beans. So I took 5' bamboo poles, wired them to corner posts and strategic middle posts and strung flagging from post to post around the garden. Three ribbons around the garden. I started with what we had around the house (pink and orange) and when I ran out went to town and bought big rolls of blue and white. Had to tie the ribbons before wiring the bamboo poles to the posts. The point is, it worked! Looks a little like a circus with all the colors of ribbons. I picked blue and white because deer are reported to be able to see blue, and everyone can see white. And I think those bad chaps were coming in at night or very early morning.
I'm on vacation now, but one of my friends stopped by and looked and my virtual fence is still in place - so my plants are safe! What I like is that deer cannot hurt themselves even if they did jump through the fence. And I like it that they're leaving my garden alone now. |
