2018 Season in Belarus

Beautiful garden, but what is really breathtaking - greenhouses pictures. Just gave me inspiration to try to convert one unused structure in my small backyard to one GH. Please, continue to post pictures like these.

i like all the color, lots of things catch the eye.

local honey is said to be good for the immune system.

a local farmer makes maple syrup, and birch syrup. the birch sap is much more dilute
than maple sap. taste is very different, more suited to putting on steak than pan cakes.

the mushroom looks something like a brain.

i like spiders.

our climate is a week or two behind yours. trout lilies blooming on the road side.
trees are at bud break, but no blooming yet.

i really, really need a greenhouse.

Your dacha is so vastly different from the apartment where your seedling were born. I too would spend every weekend there when it was possible even if I had to live without a few conveniences. You have a great place to garden and find peace for your soul.

A brief update from this weekend.

Everything gets bigger/larger. Our Shed was finished.

Starling family is very loud in their wood house.

BBQ was great

Old Air-Force fuel tanks are still doing fine after 25 years here as washstands and water reservoir for shower almost everywhere near neighboors dachas.

Andrey where I am the five nation Indian tribes made birch syrup, and some here still do to keep the tradition alive.I mean non Indians,almost forgot to say that.

I have never tasted it but may some day.

For many years two locals have tapped my sugar maple trees and made syrup and when my brother and family still lived up here before they moved to NC he did as well.

The best story I can share about maple syrup is the following.

If I were to drive down a hill to the hamlet of Shushan,on the right there was a telephone pole that always had several buckets hanging from it and yes,only when it was sap collecting time. As others who lived near this man said the man would come out take the covers off the buckets and it looked like they were heavy as he struggled to take them back of his house.

Some actually believed others knew that telephone poles around here are DEAD, as in RIP.

My brother often reads here at Tville and if he sees this he cannot only confirm it but probably name that man since he lived up the hill from Shushan himself before he and family moved to NC.

Love your pink lupines Andrey! We have many lupines that love our coast in the state of Maine. Lupines are beloved there and spread quite naturally. What are the yellow flowers next to the lily of the valley?

I don't know its name, but let's wait a little bit and they bloom to the maximum. Somebody here will name them true

Carolyn, birch tree juice is too watery to make a syrup I believe they made a coctail of different tree juices
Maple syrup is different of course. If you will drink it too much you have an opportunity to apply for Canadian citizenship without any problems. It's their one and only requirement to be fond of maple syrup (of course it's a joke)

I like lupines too, but they are everywhere here wild and mostly blue.
My pink garden lupins will be getting blue as well in several years due to a dusting. That's highly possible.

Andrey, I've bought Russian YELLOW lupines, but I expect them to bloom only next year. Hopefully they'll keep that gorgeous yellow color shown on the package!

I think the yellow flowers with that soft, needle-like foliage is called Spurge.
