This sounds like so much fun!

Absolutely!

Carolyn, if you are able to get up the stairs to the 2nd floor with some help from us, we would love to have you! The bed itself is great, it is an air bed (Select Comfort type) where you can adjust firmness with one control and positions and even massage with a remote control.

Let us know!

Mark let me know your offer was here so here I am.

I'm sorry but there's no way I can get up stairs to a 2nd floor with anyones help.

It was only a week ago yesterday that I received permission to go from the wheelchair to my walker, weight bearing as tolerated, the operative word being tolerated.

It's really a surprise to me how quickly muscles atrophy and lose muscle tone. So I'm dealing with it, and walking walking in the walker as my PT person is urging me to do but I go very slowly and not far.

Yesterday I got permission to go down the one step to my LV/DR where I haven't been since May 8th. All surrounded by windows and just lovely.

But I couldn't get in the shower, even with help, and that's a bummer so I'll still have to have the Home Health Aide.

I really do appreciate your offer but I couldn't even ride the distance from where I live to W NYS.

Mischka had offered to pick me up and drive me to Tpalooza this weekend but that's a no go as well.

And no, there's not all that much hope that I'll ever be able to walk even with a cane b'c all this was preceeded in Dec of 2004 by my severing all four quad muscles. 3/4 have returned to function, but the 4th no, which means my knee buckles quite easily. I'm just darn glad to have my leg still attached to my body.

So I'll look for all of your reports and pictures and wish I was there with you, but it just can't happen.

I am so sorry to hear that, Carolyn! I know that muscles do take a long time to come back, if ever. I was on strict bed rest for 5 months while pregnant with my daughters, and my back is still not the same. There was a paper published about this somewhere, it could have been in the New England Journal of Medicine.

You will be there in our minds, and hopefully we will have great pictures to share afterwards!

We are happy to offer the guest room to someone else who might be interested, and we can also pick up from the airport if someone is flying to Buffalo.

I'd be happy to add a new forum in the Regional Gatherings section if you would like your own forum to further organize this event.

Thanks Mischka. Can you keep this thread here, start a new forum for us (maybe Upstate/Western NY Tomato Fest until we get a formal name), and then move the "Anyone interested in a UNYTAG or NFTAG?" thread from the Other Gatherings 2007 section to it? Then we'll have a starting point to point to from here.

We now have our own forum, Buffalo-Niagara 2007! Anybody subscribed to this thread see us at the new forum, and RSVP. Date is Saturday, September 8th, location is about 15 minutes south of Niagara Falls.

Please make plans to attend, for out-of-towners, you can incorporate a visit to beautiful Niagara Falls into your weekend plans and make a whole weekend out of it.

Yes, casinos are 20 minutes away! And for those sticking around, maybe a 'Mater Mark's Top Secret Garden Tour... maybe even make it a "U-Pick."

I may have to sweeten the pot... free seeds to anyone that attends, though the garden tour may well beat a visit to Niagara Falls!
