"cold wet spring" of the PNW has not been an issue at least for the last 3 seasons.
Yes, it is a change but is it permanent? I remember having my tomatoes die off after a frost 15th May 1986 or 7. They were in an unheated greenhouse. Most people are stuck on the Victoria day weekend as their planting date. One young Doc I spoke with recently was shocked I would pant before then I try to go with whatever the weather is bringing us and chance early sowings.
Seems unusual to me to have two such warm years in a row. The flooding in the interior is barely over and the fires are already beginning. This does not jibe with my memory of how things were in the past.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that June does not cool down and get too wet, as it often has in the past. Juneuary, you know.

It sometimes snows in “juneuary” in Edmonton.
We just called it spring.
It’s paradise here in comparison, I planted a Japanese banana today

Hi, that is rose quartz multiflora. Planted January 23. Likes the little greenhouse, it was one if several I started quite early to have something to test my new greenhouse, practice on and also for crosses.

Big blossoms, lots of faciated blooms as I have come to expect from the first trusses on my hearts as well as the new F3 group.
Happy with their progress so far and very happy to have a whole garden full of my crosses this year, there should be some interesting things to show later on including what I think and hope are a couple of determinate beefsteaks, a purple and a sweet yellow bicolour from the delicious x CL cross although at F3 there could be a lot of surprises still

Can't wait to try them. I am more than certain they all going to be super tasty. Thanks for doing this, Karen. And thank you for sharing them too. Hope this heart one sets the fruit, it looks to be a mega-bloom.

Lovely blooms KarenO. I had no idea that Delicious is a determinate! Way to go, looking forward to see those determinate beefs.

Delicious is a big indeterminate. Most of the offspring of my crosses are as well but there were a couple of shorter plants in the F2 of that cross. Perhaps from captain lucky’s unknown lineage. Will see what the F3 does but 2 of them look determinate or at least short so far.
