We Need More Tomato Plant Pictures

Houston Heat! Is that tomato plant in question still setting fruit? If it has that much resistance to blight, etc., and keeps on setting blossoms, you might have a keeper...worth seed-saving. Just guessing that it may be a Cherokee-type.

The heat has just about shut down most of the tomatoes but the cherry plants are little soldiers still pumping out tomatoes.

This is a case of dumb luck, let me explain. I bought some generic red cherry seeds(Large Red Cherry) to sell some plants and the closest label I could find from MasterTag was "Big Red Cherry so I bought those.

Well when I was transplanting the "Big Red Cherries" I grabbed the labels that had "Big" on them and never thought about it until I planted 15 plants in the garden. These were what I tagged Big Beef but then realized once they started blushing the mistake I made. So I have 15 plants of cherries that I thought was Big Beef, DUH!

The good news is these taste great and everyone loves them. I picked again today and even pulled some that were just starting to blush to avoid the bugs/worms.

I pulled this many two other times in the last 12 days. The bigger ones are Early Girl and/or Creole.

I'm hoping to get more tomatoes but this heat is not helping and it won't be long before the season is done till Fall.

Sadly, I don't have anymore Dr. Carolyn seeds.

But I did grow a slew of cherry/small types. I branched out from my usual yellow and black cherry types this year.

A bunch of these are new to me this year. The one in the center is Lollipop and the other one is Snow White Cherry.

I had some tasty surprises too. Sara's Galapagos was like a mouth of sunshine! So good! Unfortunately my one and only plant wilted and died due to me being away from home to care for it. It was a frail little plant when I set it out, but despite that, I did get a few tomatoes before it died.

Yellow Submarine was a disappointment. It just didn't have the flavor I was hoping for.

I also didn't care for Tonadose Des Conores.

Ruby Pearl is one of my favorites and it didn't let me down this year. I eat them about as fast as I can pick them.

Mini Gold is one of my favorites as well.

Tonight I will be test tasting Iva's Red Berry, Black Plum & Gold Krone.

I grow large tomatoes for family, but my love is the Cherry type!

We will not see ripe fruit for a few weeks in the NEast. I have a few early cherry clusters forming.

Just curious... was that 'Large Red Cherry' from Ferry Morse? I bought some a long time ago for a project at work and grew two extra plants here at the house. Those plants got absolutely huge and just covered with, well, large red cherry tomatoes. Aptly named and good flavor! They tend to split though after heavy rain or overwatering. I still grow one now and then as the seed has lasted forever.

I see some that of the Tomatovillians are about at the end of their season. Likewise with myself. I'll have to live vicariously through others' photos until next season. Here's a plate of Paul Robeson and Arkansas Traveler with basil and basalmic vinaigrette. Cherry plants are still producing heavily.

I am definitely saving seeds from this plant.
