I think hail is covered on cars here in Texas now. But for your home you have to have a wind/hail policy.

Friday and Saturday rain and highs in the low 50's, then 80+ by wednesday. Looks stable and seasonable after this weekend finally. Hoping it's dry enough to plant on Mothers Day, but I doubt it will be.

Cecil I too am in SW PA with planted out garden (all the tomatoes and a couple experimental peppers) and we got hit by the frost/freeze pretty good too...They say it only got down to 34 locally but I suspect it was colder than that with the amount of frost I saw in the morning. I also saw the dew point was at 20 so that really allowed the temps to drop. I had the plants covered with plastic and sprayed them all down the night before. 4 of the 30 mater plants are dead I suspect, others just have some leaf damage and I hope will recover. All the peppers are toast but I have backups for all those.

Hope you have backups?

Have you ever complained about 78 degree weather? Now add in a 15 mph wind... sounds like a perfect day. It's cloudy with 90% humidity. If you're not doing anything - it feels great. Start building tomato supports and you can't get enough water because you sweat it out as fast as you drink it.

The things we complain about

There is supposed to be heavy storms tomorrow with high winds and tornado threats. So it's get some supports up today or lose tomato plants tomorrow.

We have some storms popping up around us. Looks like we might be dodging some ice rocks. Tomatoes are on their own, but I did cover the glass top patio table.

We are getting it the other way : HOT! HOT !
Tomorrow high forecast is 92; and the rest of 10 days will be in mid to high 80s.
The only real rain in the forecast is for Sat .( 100% chance of thunder storms )
But on the positive note, we get winds 5 to 10 mph range and low RH.
All this translates To : WATER YOUR PLANTS !

My biggest weather fear right now is that we'll have another spring-less year where it goes from cold and wet, to hot as heck.

I had the impression that you have a long spring season up there.
No Spring season is usually a thing down south. We had freeze/frost in March and temps in 80s in April. Up in PNW you get a very long spring. Almost March to July.

We used to. Now we have years where it stays cold and wet well into May (parts of New England have had both frost warnings and snow within the past week), then by June we're into hot and humid. That in between warm, spring season seems to be shrinking.

And while we too, saw temps up in the 70s last month, the temperatures then plunged right back down into the 30s and 40s.

They are calling for the same weather here. Where is this crazed gunman located?
