My rain gauge is ready to measure.
My rain gauge never saw the rain.
It was in the forecast to get heavy thunderstorms from 11 Am to 5 pm. Nothing happened it was a cool calm day with overcast skies.
I guess I have to do some watering work tomorrow.

Tryno... just put them out. I have never killed tomatoes with sunburn. and I grow and sell thousands of tomatoes a year. I was putting the tomatoes out during the day and taking them back in in the cold evenings.. a few got sunburned but nothing died. I haven't moved any of them in now for the past several days. everybody has equal opportunity to harden up and get tough now. some of them were wimpy and I can't be babying wimpy tomatoes along. first time you move one all the other tomatoes fall over. I don't want that in the greenhouse or garden.

gardeneer... so sorry. I wish we could have sent you some of the rain we got last week.

Yesterday at us a storm with hail. I hope the hail has avoided my garden. I'll see tomorrow.

We're at the same stage here as many of you, for planting out into unheated greenhouse. I don't want to carry plants in and out, I just hope they're not set back by these last few days - our forecast is looking better this week as well, with that three day window of warm weather that tomatoes like to settle in.

My garden is clear of snow, but I can still look out the window and see unmelted snow cover in the woods. Yesterday it also snowed. Yes this is not seasonal weather for us. Rare to see snowbanks lying around into may, they are usually gone by early april. This morning it's -2 C and "freezing fog". We had a couple of sunny breaks yesterday afternoon but the greenhouse didn't get above 65 F. This morning it's 45 F. A bit colder than I would have liked. Luckily there's sunshine in the forecast this afternoon... we need that to get through another cold night!

Big change to the forecast, snow flurries Thursday and Friday. I'll be moving the plant out to the week of the 22nd.

Whether it's cold,
or whether it's hot.
It's always weather,
whether or not.

My plant out projection date is the same as last year - about May 25. I was hoping for the 20th, but that's a 'probably not'. A few are wimpy in the morning sun, but perk up in the shade. Still impatient.

And then there's all the peppers still under the lights. . .

Tomato plants are kind of strange creatures if you think about it. They are very resilient, you can break a stem and perform surgery and they often are fine. They root very easily. Grow very fast. At the same time they are wimps when it comes to cold or disease.

We have been having some great weather and the plants are responding with lots of growth and I noticed several marble sized tomatoes. Lows around 60 and highs low 80's.

I sure hope the forecast is wrong, been watching the 10 day, no mention of below 40 so I planted out 600 plants Thur. & Fri. I've wrapped the cages in plastic and hoping for the best.

No worries, JTI. It was years ago, not now.
Then I had a garden under the canopy of a black walnut tree.
It didn't bother anything other than tomatoes.
