For me, same same. Clemson was always a high producer for me, followed real close by Milsap white and the velvets and closely followed by the colored okras. Not enough difference to holler at, but then I mostly grow too much okra.
I like to plant them in the devils strip, where the heat is real hot and the soil a bit more poor. They look pretty out there, with the blooms and everyone thinks they are hibiscus. |

2 years ago my son was here visiting from Omaha and before he left I told him to go to the back porch and grab some tomatoes, zukes and cukes. When they got home he decided he was going to bake a zuke. Lol, he mistakenly had grabbed a cucumber. Said it really stunk up the house and trashcan.

Floating a cucumber slice in a martini makes it a whole different drink, but you won't get rid of many that way...

I hate raw cucumbers.
Fortunately my son and husband love them, because I counted 30 baby cucumbers on my four plants this afternoon. I will eat cucumber quick/refrigerator pickles, so I guess it's time to stock up on white vinegar. My husband loves sliced cucumbers with balsamic vinegar, so I guess I need to check my inventory of that as well. |

I ate too many cucumbers growing up.
As for the dark green store bought ones they do suck the skin is horrible. Yesterday I saw a monster hanging in the wide open I have no idea how I missed it. I think I might be going cucumber blind. One thing that baffles me is my parents grew cucumbers every year but not one time did they trellis them, not one time. There is simply no better way to grow them. Every time I hear or read the word gazpacho I think of the Simpsons where Lisa tried to force everyone to be vegetarian at Homers BBQ. Worth |

I don't really like them either (can't say I hate them), but there is a recipe you need to try if you haven't. Fairly thinly cut slices (rounds), add salt, decent amount of ground pepper, a tiny bit of vinegar, one garlic clove very thinly sliced, a little bit of oil. This is the standard cucumber salad that I know of, it doesn't seem very known though.

Well as a Lebanese - we make a cucumber salad with garlic, salt, fresh or dried mint and cukes. Smash the garlic with salt, mix it in yogurt - preferably a thick, greek style yogurt. Peel and cube cucumbers, add some pepper, mint and you're good to go. Remove seeds if the cucumbers are seedy.
You could salt the cukes first - we never did because we made it and ate it pretty much right away. It is delicious and a good way to use up those cucumbers. Sharon |

I am pretty sure nothing good happens when you cook a cucumber.
But I trust Imp, an againt my better judgement may try the braised ones sometime this decade. |

Pretty much agree - cucumbers cooked in any fashion - not for me!
