At the Texas State Fair they have been known to sell deep-fried butter. And deep-fried ice cream. Neither is melted inside.

Yesterday after getting home I was picking okra.
I have to almost get in the bed to pick the middle ones. This leaves okra leaves in my face. Yesterday I noticed a big green tree frog right in my face on a leaf while I was picking. |

I have came to the conclusion on a better garden for me and my tastes in food next year.
More Basil. More Okra. More container tomato experiments but no exotic tomatoes. Right now I am fermenting some mortgage lifter seeds from a nice specimen. When I planted the basil I didn't expect anything and it has thrived in the blistering heat as well as the okra has. If I want more pesto type sauces I will have to grow more and love the cinnamon basil. Less cucumbers right now I hate cucumbers every time I turn around there is another cucumber to pick. By the way the table and chair in the pictuer was free from next door. Worth |

something spooky about that okra! i grew it in big plastic totes a couple of years ago, there would be a flower there all day, towards evening the flower would be shriviled , and the next morning a 4-5 inch okra pod would be there! lol

Smokey is eyeing that basil! I love basil too, I always grow way more than I can use. I dry a lot of it, wish it kept longer in fridge. A lot of it goes into the compost.
I am going to try growing okra next year too, you have inspired me! I don't know what's wrong with me I haven't bought any this year and I love okra. I'm going to do some different things next year too. Heat index today is 110 to say it's miserable is an understatement. I might try to hook up some drip irrigation next year. |

The basil is gorgeous. Never knew it would do so well in the heat. Must be the variety,
and such perfect leaf shape. (cinnamon you said?) I always get way too much of something every year. Unpredictable weather. 2 years ago I was cussing all the fruit trees, then none last year. A welcome break from the labor of harvesting, then pressing, then vinegars, etc. Same with maple syrup...every other years is enough. Still have plenty. We just cook so randomly and seasonally and get hooked on a few things, then drop something from the list, then miss it...now I want eggplant and did not plant a single one. Pesto freezes so well and thaws quickly because of the oils. I get sick of it and then come January it is a perfect discovery in the freezer. |

http://tomatoville.com/showpost.php?...postcount=3738 Yes cinnamon basil. Growing like crazy and I am just watering it once a day. All I did was spread seeds out on the top of the soil. The smell alone is enough to grow this stuff and the critters love the flowers. It also seems to be a deer repellent. Strange thing some of the plants have green stems some have red everything else is the same. It is on my fun plant to grow list. Fun meaning little work for much reward. Cinnamon basil is a good choice for flower beds. In an HOA area they would not know what the hell it was if they outlaw vegetable garden in the front. |

Ten ghost peppers 1/4 cup white vinegar 1/4 cup water 1 teaspoon canning salt 1/8 teaspoon one tablespoon lemon juice xanthan gum.
