Well done Spatz - now to wait for the rewards of your labour. THE tomato to have now includes the very nice KBX which is surpassing all my plants for growth. Let's hope the fruit is plentiful.

From the same sowing as Lomatia's :-

Mcsee, have you tasted Ida Gold yet?
KBX, hope it's a great one for you. (I am not growing it.)

Spatz - we have a handful of Ida Gold sitting on the bench, so a few more in the morning will make it worthwhile tomorrow night in a salad for Dinner.

I can't wait.

Bad luck on the fishing front, Cosi, but as they say: a bad day's fishing beats a day in the office.

A nice brown trout in foil with wine and herbs would be great.

Spatz and McSee,
Good work and now I am sure the rewards will be forthcoming.

What are these ESSENTIAL tomato varieties... I'm an addict and need to know )

Grub - O.K. I will tell you but keep it a secret alright. THE tomato to have, is actually a Yellow Green Giant, given the name of 'Casey's Pure Yellow'. It originated in the garden of dokutaaguriin (Jeff).

Lomatia, Spatz, Raymondo and myself are growing it.

Read about it here

Omigawd... it's like a clique from the south... next I will read you are getting together to celebrate the great yellow orb.

I have grown Green Giant. How does it differ other than the obvious?

Certainly a tomato I'll be waiting on, as I'm growing six in tubs here, two of which got a touch of the sun on Monday. I'll have to forward the taste results a bit later on, but I'm confident of some top tasting fruit resulting.

PS, I am growing out one of my seed saves of Brandywine that came up RL. It is a beast and has fruit swelling rappidly. Got no idea what it was crossed with as I grab pollen from anywhere and dab it on willing flowers. I save seed normally from the first fruit as they should be pure, but I must have saved from a pollen dabbed one here. Hey, it could have more than one daddy

LOL... I lost the plot y'day and grabbed the electric toothbrish and pollinated the entire garden...

Next in may crazy plan is to feed them the secret bloom booster, then go nuts with the electric toothbrush.

Have you got good fruit set? Mine is good but not as good as other years, so I'm thinking a later harvest this year.

Fruit everywhere but lots of burnt flowers from heat spell. Cooler now for a week so the toothbrush will need a new battery.
