Nah - not involved. Avoided cliques for 68 years not about to join one now - even for a really good tomato - what was the name again? There is a place of sanity after all........

Given up fishing for ever. Might take up drinking.

Began planting out today, near sunset so only got a dozen or so in the ground before nightfall. Straight after that it poured. Auspicious start, I thought to myself, for the tomatoes, but not too good for the beans sown the day before!
In the ground so far:
Beans: Macedonian White, Muffet, Blue Lake
Limas: Christmas Lima
Runners: Tarahumara
Cuke: Croatian
Mexican Sour Gherkins
Toms: Cheeky F2, Dwarf Russian Swirl, Golden Dwarf Champion, Lime Green Salad, New Big Dwarf, Cherokee Chocolate
Everything has to fit into my one and only prepared bed (4m x 3.5m). Melons and pumpkins may well have to be planted into the lawn!

Are you in new digs now Ray? Is that why there's only one bed. Are you planning more space?

Nice start Ray, you got the staples in! The perennial red onions only take up a bit of space - you might fit them in a corner

Was wondering that myself.

I'm still weeding and planting. I think I can see light at the end of the (extremely long) tunnel.

Freshly picked raspberries and strawberries help to keep up the energy level.

Nearly tidy over here - got the best of the weeds out. Here's my tidy garden which will be untidy by tomorrow. Toms are Cherokee Purple, IPB and Kotlas setting fruit nicely in tropical tassie.

Nice backyard Cosi. Do you think you will get more than a year out of the bottomless buckets?

I also spot a dog's head and plenty of peas. I lerv fresh peas. Let me at 'em...

Some of them are in their second year. That is my gardening assistant Dougal who checks for blackbirds, eat peas, nicks apples to play with, lies on the onions, enjoys cow poo and sleeps most of the day under the apple trees. Can't hammer in a stake or pull a weed to save his life. I also love fresh peas - can't stop myself now they are filling up , hoping they will last until Xmas along with the nearly ready Dutch Creams.

Raymondo, I have been sorting my beans and have some which I think I got from either you or Helen (nice neat handwriting so think it is you) labelled Rocquencourt. I also have some from Kings seeds labelled Rochfort. Yours says 'yellow podded' Bush/Snap and Kings says "French yellow bush beans". Are they the same thing?

Things are getting more out of control here. Potted up some more peppers, still got about eight to go, and then the overs can go in the front of the house. Then about a dozen eggies to pot up soon.

I think I will start a Down Unde Harvest thread as heaps of overwintered eggies and peppers are coming through, tomatoes are setting everywhere in the ideal temps, squash are setting, and bean flowers are on the way. Just need to get the cukes to set a few.

Given how much greenery is out there, everything could come crashing down should we get a week or more of sticky weather and drizzle. Have the most crowded backyard ever this year.

Yes, I'm in new digs. Bought a house on 3000 bare square metres. Well, it's not really bare, just all lawn. The one bed I've created is, as mentioned, 4m x 3.5m so that's 14sqm less to mow. I've got two pieces of 1.8m weed mat, each 3m long. I'll put those on a part of the lawn and plant melons etc into it. Tha's another 10.8sqm less to mow. Eventually, there will be nothing to mow but slowly slowly catchy monkey!
I'm off on Wednesday to India for 3 weeks. Fingers crossed that my automatic watering system works!
Those beans could well be the same thing though the two towns are in separate parts of France (Rocquencourt is in Ile de France very close to Paris while Rochfort is in the Poitou-Charentes region towards the coast, south west of Paris).

Spatz - Ida Gold were nice, having a tangy fruity taste. I'll have some Oregon Spring by Monday followed by Red Cloud later in the week.

No Tessa, they are not dwarf and far from it. The big cots are just a sign of things to come. Big plant, big bicoloured fruit, big juicy flavour.
Did I send you any seeds of Gary O'Sena. He is going to be my first to ripen, pic below of three colouring up nicely
