Clara, what a good friend you have in Annaliese! You probably received some very special new varieties that the rest of us can only drool over! I hope that you will get some permanently warmer weather soon. We are only now starting to get nights above freezing here. My sympathies to all the European growers with unusually cold weather!

Oh yes, ddsack, you are soooo right! asmx has sent me some real gems! My son is very happy that Marianna's Peace is among them - that's the tomato he loves most and he was already able to try a lot different varieties. I know he will pamper it - good for me, lol!

Hello Anneliese,
tomato is one of the most beautiful flowers I know. And your photos really prove that without any doubt. I am half way through the "planting out" procedure. I keep taking all precautionary measures I can think of to raise the soil temp and keep my toms happy. The photos were taken on Fri, the plants went out in 3 days: Mon, Tue, Wed. The pictures show them in the same order. Milan HP |

Milan,
your plants are looking good! I think they will do it. The stones will save warm, too. I cross my fingers that they will get good. Anneliese |

Hello Anneliese,
as I haven't got one I have to put up with what Mother Nature hands out. And it's a bit of a sore sight compared to previous years. I don't give up hope though. I found a few pinhead fruits today. The plants are sort of devastated by the cold weather and storms and hail. I think, your plants will make it. With me the wetter gets warmer.
In the night I have about 5 degrees. 2 greenhouses I heat (at night) with my clay pot heater. Such a cold May - I can't remember. |
