Okay, it's now time for the Miracle Whip side to chime in on BLT construction. I grew up in the deep South on MW and was shocked at the horrible taste of mayo when I first tried it at the age of ten. I still won't keep it in my house.

2 slices of toasted Ezekiel bread
Your favorite tomato (I don't presume to give tomato advice to this group)
3 slices of lean alder-smoked bacon
1 leaf of Romaine lettuce, folded until it fits the toast
Miracle Whip on both slices of toast.
Salt to taste (If your bacon doesn't already have enough)

The toasted Ezekiel bread really adds to the overall experience. It might even make mayo a little less intolerable.

I prefer a mater/mater sandwich. Three slices of tomato, with salt in between, over the sink, doing the "lean in so when you drip down to your elbows you don't drip on the floor" dance.

Only mater sammich in the world. Although I will switch up from time to time.

OMG! Make that homemade mile high buttermilk potato bread & you got it exactly right! Bicoloreds for the kiddies & raging red or pink for the old folks. Oh joy!

I bet the pepper on that sandwich came from a battery powered pepper mill he always carries in his pocket.

All I know is that last year I sliced a German Red Strawberry and put it on a BLT. IT was by far that best BLT I had ever had. Ever since then, I have only used GRS tomatoes on BLTs. Everyone who has tried them agrees. Don't know why...but wow it made a huge difference in flavor.

Here's how I make mine:
3 slices of 12 grain bread-I like Brownberry
John Morrell Smokey Maple Bacon-about 5 slices
Large thick sliced juicy maters
Lettuce is optional
Mayo
Lightly toast the bread and slather the mayo on all slices, with the middle bread having mayo on both sides. Bacon on one deck of the sandwich, and mater/lettuce in the other deck. Cut on the diagonal. Make sure you have enough tomato on there for the juice to run down your arms when you bite into it. Sop up any juice that drips onto the plate with your sandwich.
It's January. My mouth is watering already...

Toasted wheat bread
Thick slice of a ripe Sudduth Brandywine
Hellman's mayo
Just a couple of pieces of crisp Bar-S bacon (NO MAPLE bacon please)
and a slice of Vidalia onion

I call it a BLOT

Had supper at a bar and grill on the way home Sunday evening. They had a Big A** BLT on the menu. one pound of bacon, 6 slices of real (no store bought here) tomato, lettuce and mayo on a 9 inch roll.
Didn't order it as it is winter and even though they claim to use real tomatoes, I didn't believe it.
After I ate my sandwich, I think they may be telling the truth. Wished I would have ordered it. Won't be going that way again for a while.... maybe I'll need to make a special trip.
