I'm made pot roast tonight with chuck in the Frymaster 400.
I seasoned with a litle Tony's, Cavenders and garlic powder then oiled with EVOO and a light coat of flour. Browned it to color added some flavor 2 cups of water and in the pot for 10 minutes onions, celery, 2 tbsp of tomato paste and carrots thinly sliced to add flavor and break down to make a thick gravy Cooked 10 minutes then pulled out the meat because it's tender and added the potatoes and carrots 5 minutes under pressure and the veggies are done added the meat to warm up before serving Everyone needs a Presto Fry Master 400, it's a pressure skillet that makes life easy. Check Ebay and hopefully you'll find one, they don't make these anymore and I don't know why in this "I want it now" lifestyle. This has to be one of the very first infomercials ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZavYMVXYam8

My old mirromatic "6" I picked up for nothing does the same thing as the fry master 400.
Now days many people want something with Bluetooth, WiFi and a cell phone AP or they cant operate it. Looks nice. Worth |

Thanks everyone!
Worth, everyone is on the Instapot train now. I was referring to a pan cooker. I borrowed my sisters Instapot and it does work but it's another big appliance that takes up counter space compared to a the pan style PC. Thanks for posting that Imp, I haven't seen the movie. It's playing on Lifetime Jan 4 & 5.

You are welcome.
My Mom made pot roast te same way, lightly browned with flour dusted on it beforehand, and vegs cooked just so She also fried chicken in Crisco and it was just so good. Good memories. I thought the movie was a good one, hope you enjoy it.

Ragun
I've been playing with the Fry Master 400 lately. Mostly for tougher cuts of beef. Did a venison shoulder the other night, deboned and connective tissue removed. Seared and then under pressure with onion, garlic and a splash of wine for 10 minutes. Cooled down, then added big chunks of veggies and 1 cup water for another 10 minutes. 5 lb roast plus veg in 20 minutes and two cool downs. I love how this cooks, but have no idea as to what pressure this cooks at. Is the hard rubber piece that pops out of the center of the jiggler an indicator of pressure? It has a couple white lines that show when it pops. Any idea? |

It's supposed to be 5lbs a line so 5-10-15 but it always pegs out on mine and I cook on the lowest setting on a gas stove.
I usually leave the jiggler off till I see steam coming out then put it on and lower the heat when I see it rise to the 2nd mark and turn it down to low. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but it works for me. Here's a download for the manual, the download button is on the top right. http://libcdm1.uncg.edu/cdm/ref/coll.../HENP/id/12226
