NCT, The SESE response is quite disturbing. I think you should have marketed your seeds thru Remy...they would have been sold out instead of gathering dust on a shelf.
I'm also disturbed at the response from SESE, actually very disturbed.

Dust, at one time last year I had made some suggestions ( other places) as to where these dwarf varieties could be placed but Craig and Patrina decided on the four mentioned. And they are all good places, no doubt about it, to start with, but again, I am disturbed by the SESE comment since seeds were provided to them and I can't understand why a two year wait for them to see how to grow them, etc. and implicit in that comment was to check for genetic stability, etc.

And this is the busiest time of the year for all four of them, that I understand. And having to upload new information at their websites right now might be a problem , time-wise, especially for Sandhill with Linda being the sole person who does that at the same time they're filling orders and Linda has to take care of all the birdie shipments as well.

Default Germination form Victory!

Huh, rather unexpected and disappointing feedback from SESE indeed

But on the positive note, all three from Victory have germinated in 3.5 days. Planted 4 seed of each, one batch on the heated mat (dome, 79-80F), one batch at the room temperature (just to see what these seeds like better).

Heat mat batch were poking out this morning, now moved under the grow light. I guess the other batch will follow in few days.

Thank you again to all responsible for these varieties and the updates on availability!

Regards,
D

Disappointing for sure which is why I presented a copy of my correspondence w/ SESE in this forum, as normally I would let it slide. I had much anticipation and excitement finding that the project came to fruition only to not be able to gather a select few of these before they sold out. Hopefully NC can provide us w/ another option before the year ends.

Yeah, I also vote for the next dwarf release going thru Remy.

Folks....what I do not want to happen is that we end up making assumptions and accusations without all of the data. Every seed company has different standards, different processes, different resources, and different timelines.

I am in the process of making contact with the other three companies to see the status of where things are. That any are available at all this year is a bonus, do to the efforts of Bill Minkey and Reinhard Kraft in saving quantities of seeds (not very big quantities, either).

So hold your fire - there are reasons I chose the companies that I did - and I would like to be able to get a sense of what is going on behind the scenes. Believe me - all of us associated with the project are delighted at the interest level....and if a bit more patience is required, it will be worth it in the end!

OK - there was a disconnect with SESE - I won't go into details, but it is a situation that was unforeseen, unexpected, and meant that the person who answered the notes asking about the SESE availability was not aware that there was a quantity of two varieties in hand.

My hope is to get those two off to Victory ASAP, meaning that they would be able to offer them as well quite quickly (of course, I need to contact Mike on this!).

If anyone has queried Sandhill or TGSC and had responses indicating non-availability (or availability with timing), let me know - I will be contacting each myself tomorrow by phone.

See - there is always a good reason for things not going as planned (well, almost always!)

NCT, Thanks should go to jpop for sharing his correspondence. At least now those dwarfs will have a fighting chance to see soil this year. Deal with Remy and there won't be a hiccup...she's on the ball.

No problem and thank you DD. Just wanted to share my findings as these are my top 2011 seeds for my fall start and would love to get Rosella purple and tasmanian chocalate.

NC please let me know if and where these become available and I will be on them ASAP and also share my experiences here.

Also, my post was not to stir any pots or fluff any feathers I promise NC. This was only to share my experience to gather some limited supply offering w/ all the hard work you and countless others have done. My post was never intended to be a "bash" post on SESE as I am sure they are a good company. Hope everyone took it as such. Cheers.

jpop, no worries - your post of the email was a catalyst, and tonight was one of those amazing points where all sorts of things came together to reveal the root cause of the issue.

So all's well that ends well (realizing that there is more detective work to do tomorrow re delays on the other varieties!).

Feeling quite good on how this all ended up, really....and that's all one can hope for!

By the way - I can now confirm that the Rosella Purple and Tasmanian Chocolate will be returned to me, and Mike at Victory will be ready for them - so Victory will list these two as well, probably within a couple of weeks at the most (Mike has the descriptions and pics).

That's great news!

Thanks for keeping everyone up-to-speed. I'm confident that Rosella Purple and Tasmanian Chocolate will be big hits with folks this season, too.

Whenever you visit my grave,

say to yourselves with regret

but also with happiness in your hearts

at the remembrance of my long happy life with you:

"Here lies one who loved us and whom we loved."

No matter how deep my sleep I shall hear you,

and not all the power of death

can keep my spirit

from wagging a grateful tail.

From what I gather, Mike now has them listed at Victory for preorder.....so the process has begun! Sorry to be using Tville as Twitter...feels like I am a fast breaking news reporter!
