Agreed on the Indigo Rose. For three years I have grown them for the novelty and the striking beauty, but they are banished this year, because I can't stand the flavor.

Agree they're not the sweetest, but I was surprised at how good they tasted anyway when allowed to ripen. Not sour at all.

They took forever to ripen for me. Yes not sour, but not very tasty. My comment to FarmerShawn was going to be what flavor? I felt they were bland. Yes, gorgeous looking tomatoes. If you're happy with them keep growing them. I did very much enjoy their beauty. Now to grow some really ugly ones like Pink Truffle!

Here is some smaller ones of these Schmoo shaped tomatoes. Not my photos.

Don't completely give up on the blues, indigo rose has led the way to lots of others that taste much better. Last summer I grew Helsing ★★★★★★★★ blues, Amethyst jewel and bosque blue bumblebee and I liked all three very much. beautiful and great taste.

I'm another one happy with Helsing ★★★★★★★★ Blues, it's been very tasty and productive in my garden the past two years

I too liked hjb super black in the sun and tasted pretty good too. I dont know about your plants but they were the saddest looking plants with leaf curl. I had five in the ground and one in a pot and all six were the same.

All three of my plants had major leaf curl. But if didn't seem to affect their production/ flavour,
And the curling was in the direction to promote shedding water so I didn't seem to have disease issues! It was a good year for tomato growing and no blight here this year though

Interesting about the leaf curl. I grew Indigo Rose (another antho variety) 2 years ago and it looked so pathetic that I thought it was going to die! I kept watering it because it looked so droopy and sad. It was fine and gave me lots of cherry-sized fruit that took forever to ripen. I was not thrilled with the taste.

my helsing ★★★★★★★★ blue had serious leaf curl too, but did not effect production. I thought they tasted very sour and did not like them, but our friend in town did. She used them in place of tomatillas and took all that we grew.

HJB: No leaf curl on mine. Very strong plant, very thick foliage of the darkest green with lots of antho visible in the stems as well. The foliage almost seemed rugosed like a dwarf but the plant was not a dwarf. Fruits in the sun super black. more shaded ones, which I actually preferred, a lovely red/black splotched mix. pretty stars on top when the stems are removed. Would certainly grow it again.

I happen to love purple haze. Sweet Smokey black flavor no splits at all. Goes into fall here too. I try different cherries each year but keep purple haze as well.

I'm going to go with Lost Marbles because of the disease resistance. Blight is my enemy.

I want to think you and Linda for your reviews of Indigo Rose. It has Great Blue Beauty but strange taste. But, it’s so beautiful I will try to develop different Cooking Recipes to bring out a great taste. I did not cook with it because I fall in love with a Tomato from Spin called Muchamiel: I call “My Spaniards” Every pot I cooked I eat the whole pot of sauce. I eat them off my displays. I was out of control with those Spaniards.

“As a tip to my fellowman Farmers especially all the Lady Farmer out there who wants a beautiful displays of Heirloom Tomatoes. “” You can sell them with the Super Show White Cherry Tomato as a “Tom Wagner Red White & Blue Special because he is an all American type of Guy, Amen!!. It makes a beautiful display.

Yes I like the Black Cherry tomatoes but looking at my books: my best seller in Cherry tomatoes is called a Texas Wild Cherry tomato.

Happy New Years to all
