Thanks for all the replies to this thread. Had no idea of the strong emotions to be found on both sides of the Megabloom issue (that I didn't realize was an issue). I certainly understand folks who don't like them, but I'm in the other camp.

I enjoy anything unique so I am partial to these weirdo blooms. I started this because i was surprised that my first three real blossoms of the year were all megas.

What is interesting is that all of my little ugly megabloom tomatoes have stalled. They appear healthy, but they are not growing much if at all. I know in the past I have seen this happen and then the tomato will just start growing. I hope that is the case here, because I have a lot of small CP tomatoes that seem stalled right now while the plants are healthy.

Actually, strong emotions and opinions can be found everywhere. Most people keep their strong opinions to themselves on this forum and just enjoy the differences between us. I talk a good game, but sometimes my strong opinions also become evident.

Thanks AK.

Just a suggestion. If you will put your hand next to or behind the tomato and let your camera focus on that, you will likely get a much clearer photo of the tomato.

I would love to see a bit clearer photo. It looks gnarly.

I had lots of megablooms on fishlake oxheart and sandul moldovan plants this year, but not a one of them have set fruit. I hit them with the electric toothbrush every morning, but most of them look like they are going to drop soon.

Those are some beautiful ugly tomatoes huh? Both of the Delicious are already in the 1 LB range, or so, the others a couple of ounces .
I also have a big Zac that just produced a pretty decent mega bloom too, sadly, I will chop off about 15-20 really nice shaped tomatoes to give the deformed tomato all of the glory, but that's Julia's fault. lol I'll show a before and after pic of the plant if the blossom takes.

This is the first time I have chopped off tomatoes for one or two slabs, so it is slightly traumatizing.

Default The decision is made

After three days of thought, Big Zac had its life altered, now the well developed root ball can simply put the goods elsewhere.

Very good pruning and culling of fruit Mark! The one thing that many people have an issue with is extreme pruning and culling.
