I have several little Honey Drop babies growing and I think a Pink Honey (it's actually a Russian name but I think it's translated to Pink Honey) which I'm happy with because I had a late start. So, perhaps, some ripe ones in a couple of weeks.

I have maters on: Juliet, Sungold, Verona, Golden Rave, Big Beef, Granadero, Big Boy, Siletz, Kimberly, Sleeping Lady, Arctic Rose, Miracle BPF, Legend, Iditarod Red, Rosella Crimson, Rosella Purple, Stupice, and Black Cherry. Hoping for the first ripe one in a couple of weeks.

Well, much excitement here over the first flower buds on seedlings spotted yesterday evening.

Hats off to Moravsky Div, for putting on the first buds in the cold room as well as the warm. Seedlings in the cold room are growing more slowly but the little MDiv was determined to push out the well formed buds, almost ahead of the 6th and 7th leaf that are only just unfurling.
Big buds as well on some Kimberley X Zolotye Kupola F2's, and small but definite buds on a vigorous PL F2 of Kimberley X Eva Purple Ball, and also on a fraction of the F2's involving crosses with Zolotoe Serdtse, which are ahead of their mother.

Of course this exciting news has led to a frenzy of prodding, poking, and squinting over the other seedlings in search of buds.

There are a few more found this morning, including Jagodka in the warm room but not in the cold. The Bud Mania happens every year, and I must be a junkie for the thrill of 'parental pride', as I well know I'll be wasting hours of my time hovering, fussing and peeking amongst the leaves, fawning and grinning to myself....

Until finally, the first flowers open...

I have fruit set on Cherokee Purple, Eva Purple Ball, Vinson Watts, Mortgage Lifter, Carbon, Hillbilly, Matt's Wild Cherry, Lemon Drop, Chocolate Pear.

The only variety no maters is San Marzano (sp?).

I started my seeds February 22nd and planted out in containers April 12th. I have buds on almost every plant. What really shocked me is I have a small tomato about the size of a green grape on my Lillian's Yellow Heirloom! This is supposed to be a really late season tomato and I should be eating it by the end of May!

Well now you know what a cheap date I am, getting high just looking at the wrong kind of buds.

I suppose if the Great Rulers only knew, the rapture I'm getting from these little tomatie buds, they'd probably want to make it illegal ...

I do have tomatoes on all the varieties and some are starting to ripen. The first was Ambrosia Red followed by Tasmanian Chocolate and Coyote. Not one Riesenstraube has ripened and that has always been the first in past seasons.
