I have grown that original tomato from which Lucky Cross originated, something about Brandywine x Tad, and have gotten some fantastic results in terms of yield and flavor, but boy have those been short shelf life tomatoes. I had to eat them the same day I picked them. Beautiful tomatoes though in the F2, F3 and F4. Not only bicolor but had red/yellow skin stripes as well, and some very large fruit.

Yes, the original accidental cross was between Brandywine and Tad, the latter being a variety that only Craig L and I have seeds for, long story which I won't post about here.

Billl, here's where I'm confused.

Craig grew it out and made selections and gave seeds to just two different folks. I forget his name now but the one who came up with Liam's Brandywine (I think his name is Larry) which is a pink and is not a Brandywine, and also with Lee Newman, and seeds for unstable lines did get passed around.

And Lee and some others are still working on and introducing varieties from that original cross.

But I'm still confused when you say that you grew the fruit that appeared, the first one, from that original accidental cross since I only knew of two people that Craig gave seeds to.

Help me here,please.

Carolyn, there is a thread in the Research and Developmen forum where LeHoullier asks for results to track the progress of Brandywine x Tad grow-outs.

Obviously, seeds were distributed to more than the two persons you mentioned.

I received F2 & F3 seeds in 2011, and grew two plants each in 2012 and 2013.

To avoid.potential hard feelings, I'd rather not reveal my source.

Thanks for the clarification Bill. I never saw that thread anyway. But just looked at it and saw who Craig sent seeds to for evaluation.

No need to reveal your source at all but I can maybe guess who it was.

When I think back to 2009 when that thread went up and in June, I think I know where I was such that I didn't see it.

I think I was in Glens Falls Hospital following surgery then was sent to rehab for an extended stay. And yes, I've had more than my share of surgeries for this and that and I remember the one time that I came home and was limited to a wheel chair which was especially bad here at the computer since the arms wouldn't fit under the table and there were about 300 ems to plow through.

One doesn't forget em 's of that number easily/

OK, I just thought that when Craig said he wanted reports back from those he sent seeds to that the ones reporting were those who received seeds.

Bill, honestly, I don't care who you got your seeds from way back then, I really don't,I was just going by the thread title that Craig put up/

I like Hillbilly and Mr Stripey a lot. Both get to 32 oz in my garden but true that Mr Stripey is a notorious poor producer. I usually get 2-4 from ea suckered plant but I have had several over the yrs that didn't make even one. Not a prob for me as I generally have a dozen or more plants. I love the taste.

See a pink one above from Nicky

http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=38645

Ask Nicky from Ontario,Canada, not far from you.

Possibly the tasting hosted by remy that you have attended before?

What was the source of your seeds? That would help. Via remy and tasting party or elsewhere?

Looks like Nicky might have brought it to the tasting, you were there, laid hands on some seeds as folks often do at a tasting, etc.

Purely theoretical here, but the dots kind of connect. I didn't take the time to em remy to confirm any of this,I know you went to some of her tastings, but I didn't confirm that Nicky did as well, but can do so if necessary.

Were the seeds from you or Craig? They were old, around 2002-2005 I think...
