I just took these pictures. I need to find out what is causing this and how to fix it. I am open to any and all ideas. The pictures are of a plant with the yellowing leaves - just the stem though.

Salt I think it is time you tried the bleach spray method.
The rain is causing it I am sure of it.
All of our gardens this year are like wet moldy basements.

Yeah, it rained again this morning. My backyard needs mowed last week, but it's too wet.

I spray the bleach water on with a pump sprayer, but I don't remember the bleach-to-water ratio.

EDIT - 1 part bleach to 9 parts water according to http://homeguides.sfgate.com/use-ble...ght-34944.html

From the pictures in post 44 you also have some early blight going on. Liquid copper fungicide. I only bleached once. It didn't do well in my hands.
On these stems, i can't tell from the photos. Is the stem at the 2 O clock position showing the same lesions, or just light hitting it? Do the white areas rub off? If so i would think mold or other fungal, esp with all the rain. Also treat with liquid copper spray. If they dont rub off, then I am not sure. I would have said injury, bruising from abrasion, but its on the side of one, the top of another. That kind of rules that out. Can you remove a stem and cut it lengthwise, with the cut going through the lesion, so we can see whats happening internally?

It will take about 20 minutes (Jan is about to call on her lunch break)

Yes, this plant is an extra, so I can do whatever is needed. I don't think it will rub off, but I haven't tried yet.

I just added another important question.

2 o'clock exactly. It doesn't rub off and I'm about to cut it. Cut it like this? That's a razor blade I'm holding.

The inner stems look perfectly healthy. I am thinking something rubbed or abraded the stem to make those lesions. If you see progression other than browning , like if the lesions grow larger, or you start to get wilting, then time to worry. This looks just cosmetic to me. Could even be some sun scald, which isn't too big of a deal.
For your other issues:
Better get going on an antifungal regimen for the early blight and because it has been rainy and humid.

Yes I agree. I looked at the potato pictures earlier in the year - the had early blight too, but it looked a little different.

It turned out the camera was on distortion mode (I didn't know it had that)

Just another thought on the camera Salt.
When you take it out of a cool house into the hot humid weather your lenses will fog up.
This is why when I take rustables out of the house I have to wipe them down and oil them.
Like my sausage grinding plates.

Thank you both for your help.

I read the complete fold-out booklets on the Daconil and Garden Safe Fungicide 3 - they both say to use them every 7 days until conditions improve. So every Sunday until it gets hot and dry.

I spray with the copper spray and it seems to have at least slowed the problem for now. I lost 3 plants total so far but the Principie Borghese and one Rio Grande are doing well with no obvious damage and t5wo porters with moderate damage but not progressing since I sprayed on wednesday.
