I'm going to take that as a recommendation for it over Mennonite Orange, then.

I think I have 7 of those in your list in mine too.
Have you grown Black Krim and Noire De Crimee during the same season ? If so what are the differences between them ? My best and favorite black has been Black from Tula. Very productive, fairly early and with very good taste. I grew one Daniel Burson last year and it turned out s dud. I might try it again in my new location. I will try Black Cherry

Jazz (or Big Beef?)

I like Big Beef, but I think Jazz is far superior to it in regard to flavor. Big Beef probably edges it on production, and certainly on fruit uniformity. Jazz will tend to make some whopper-sized fruit under certain weather patterns, same with Orange Jazz.

Thanks! I've grown Black Krim every year for many years now (still my fav after a year growing a handful of different black tomatoes), but after reading Carolyn's book I decided to had to grow BK and Noire De Crimee side-by-side, so I will be doing that this coming year.

I'm growing DB based on many favorable reports here--it does well for Patti who also lives in southern WI.

Black and Chocolate cherry will be firsts on both--and they too will be grown side-by-side.

I haven't grown Jaune Flammee or Earl of Edgecomb and those flavor descriptions intrigue me hence this year.

Last year was the first time I grew Big Beef F1 and was very pleased with the plant vigor, health and production. Flavor was very good, not as good as some, but still quite good. I picked a TON of green fruits and they slowly ripened in my basement this fall--which made a first for me--a garden grown tomato on Thanksgiving.

Wow! That's a lot of tomatoes! The parentage looks interesting, too. Black plum was one of my favs 2 summers ago but it didn't do well last year. I think I transplanted it too many times.

GGWT and SunGold should be on every top ten list.

Last week, the weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday, with 2 inches of snow accumulating, i tossed four 5 gallon pots of not-so-ratty but un-attended tomato containers into the potting shed...a rinky dink 'greenhouse' that just stores soils and such to keep it all out of the garage. And dry. It gets some sun now that leaves have fallen.

With my phones flashlight this morning i picked and enjoyed a dozen SunGold, November 29th, !!

For my remaining buckets, I'm leaning toward these dwarfs: Summertime Green, Emerald Giant, Jade Beauty (to see which GWR I like best) as well as dwarf Beauty King.

For my remaining two garden spots I'm leaning toward Orange Jazz and Garnet. The last couple buckets and spots in the garden always ebb and flow until the last possible minute--just too many varieties I keep obtaining and wanting to try.

I haven't had Emerald Giant, but I have grown Jade Beauty next to Summertime Green. Jade Beauty makes medium-sized round fruit that are intensely sweet when ripe. Summertime Green makes bigger, beefsteak style fruit, sometimes ugly ones. The flavor is less sweet, but lighter and more balanced, still quite tasty. It just depends on what you prefer.

I would like to wait until around the first of April, but I don't know if I can hold out that long. Plant out should be mid to late May. I am going to try to get a few containers out earlier.
