I have a 48 inch Husqvarna mower NOT tractor.
Other than not having a locking rear end I love it.
Here is one for you I would suggest.

Thanks to this thread I just changed the oil and filter on the mower.
It needed it badly due to time not use I should be ashamed.
Delo 400 30 wt is what I used.

Thanks Worth. I was actually looking at the husqvarnas just last night.

Goats or sheep are really starting to look like a great option lol!

The property is about a mile off a highway so it's all paved. I'm not sure how well the county does though. We didn't really get enough snow last winter for me to check

Yeah , I know.
Everything is in the handles, gas, steering, shifting (to back up ), braking. We inherited this machine from the previous owner of the property.
The bad thing about it is that you cannot drink while driving.

for acreage that size don't go with a narrow deck either if you can afford a wide deck. or think about a gang reel mower you pull behind your primary mower. goats are sounding more doable, huh? fence it in and oHHHHH WAIT... the 6' tall fence for the entire property is more than a new mower.

The ZTR manuals all say the most accidents happen with retired Male drivers.
As they refuse to listen to the warnings of a 'learning curve'. (know-it-alls)

The cost was around $4,000 when all was said and done but it includes quite a few extras. He has a shade canopy, high back seat and seat cover, dual bagger, with weight kit in front. We also have a little carrier that holds 100 pounds he can put in place of the bagger when he wants to move small stuff from the front to the back.

I don't know if Toro has a plow attachment in their line up. The Toro can pull a cart and we bought one from Tractor Supply that holds 1200 pounds, it seemed better than the ones sold for the Toro that are aftermarket. His Toro is the 42" Zero Turn Time Cutter SS4225 and he really likes it. His does not have the steering wheel, he has the two bars for control. His is considered a medium duty and I think it has two different engine setups, his is the bigger engine.

Here is the link to Scheffield with all the equipment manufacturers they finance. You have to find an authorized dealer near you. If going this route, I would see what they have you want and fill out your application online. Hubby was answered back in 7 minutes with a telephone call. It was the fastest authorization we have ever experienced. Hubby's payment is only like $89.00 month with zero interest.

The mower hubby has.

The Dixie Chopper has a snow blade attachment but the machine by itself would be around $6,000 before you add attachments. Way out of your intended budget.

I noticed that John Deere was absent from the list of makers that they finance. What gives?

I have no idea! Sorry I can't help answer that. I do know John Deere is holding people hostage with their software and not letting farmers work on their tractors. I wouldn't want a John Deere just for that reason alone.

Well, I'm not biased quite yet- I've never owned one. At Home Depot, there is a nice one sitting next to a Toro zero-turn, at about the same price point. I do know I can go through Deere financing, but just wasn't sure why they were omitted. I sent Sheffield an email of inquiry. Thanks for sharing the link!

Just a guess, but since it is a retail finance company and they offer 0% financing, they must offer it for companies they have paid contracts with who don't offer their own financing. They must make their money from the companies whose products they finance. If a company has their own financing, they don't need to pay someone else. Deere has their own financing.

You are welcome for the link. I wouldn't buy from Home Depot. Their equipment is not the same as what you will get from an authorized dealer. It's basically watered down like a cheap mixed beverage at a not so good bar.

Compare them long before you buy, I encourage you. I did that when we were looking at the Toro for my husband. He got far better from our dealer friend(with no discount-I insisted no discount) and he has a far better machine than he could have had from Home Depot. Even a couple of his extras he got were cheaper than Home Depot was.

Editing:

To add info regarding John Deere. I was talking to my husband about this thread this morning and he said our friend who owns a lawn and garden repair shop works on all brands. He often sends people back to a John Deere authorized repair center, because even he can't get the parts he needs to repair their lawn tractors. Our friend who has been in this business for more than 30 years says John Deere is inferior to other brands because they don't hold up anymore.

See this link here, a search for John Deere not allowing farmers to repair their equipment. It's an eye opener.

Thanks for the advice! Yes, I am going to the dealer today to look at them. I only want to purchase one rider, so I'll be looking at a fabricated deck. I don't have a monster lot to mow, but after pushing for 20 years in the SC heat, I think I'm ready for something easier.
