I've been making BLTs for a couple of weeks now. You have to eat them when the opportunity presents itself. My spring tomato plants will soon be done for. This has not been a good year for me as far as tomatoes are concerned. The squirrels got so many. Both ripe and unripe. I even went to a fabric store and bought netting that I cut to size and wrapped as many individual fruits as I could hoping this would deter the squirrels. It helped, but was not perfect remedy. We finally removed our bird feeder because it drew so many squirrels that feasted on the seed that dropped to the ground. And pigeons mobbed the feeder and kept the more desirable birds away. Removing the bird feeder has helped a lot in cutting down on the squirrel population
So that is my sad tale of woe.

Never heard of Clear Lake heirloom. It looks good. I have an affinity for the "black" tomatoes. Nice variety you have.

Nice variety there PlainJane. I can only dream of a ripe tomato right now. Below is Iva’s Red Cherry. I requested this one from Tormato’s seedswap.

Jane, Thanks. No splitting on any tomatoes...yet, but believe catfacing on some fruit on one of the plants. See photo. Most likely the catfacing because of cold and wet weather earlier in spring.

Lucky!
I’ve got splitting on some of the beefsteaks and salad tomatoes both. So annoying as it ripens unevenly and I usually lose part of the fruit. Rained off and on all day today so dreading what I’ll find when I go out. |
