I want two more trellis's. I don't have a large garden so they are a needed asset to the garden. Any new building will have to wait for fall when it cools down though. Even something as simple as a cattle panel trellis. It's way too hot right now.

Yes it is hot! I've been digging a new bed around those trellises and although I love broadforking, it doesn't get finished quickly in this heat and humidity. We don't have a tiller, just use that Broadfork and a shovel, pick, and rake.
A little off topic, but the good part of that is that most of what's done is planted in our very first sweet potatoes (planted late, in mid July) and they look great! I've seen fields from the road of course but i had no idea of the many varieties and their beauty. We got 6 varieties from Sand Hill end of season sale plus set out a few Garnett slips from a store bought one. Very exciting |

Those potatoes sound good. I don't have room for those and I don't feel like trying to figure out how to do it by layering in a barrel.
Just picked the smaller of the two watermelon today, chilled it and it is not very sweet. Bummed.

We picked the last watermelon tonight, it's a 13 pounder.
It's amazing so much weight can be on a trellis. I'll be pulling the watermelon plant tomorrow.

Need Photos This Year!
Great thread! But it sure would help if y'all could post some pics of these trellises and slings this upcoming season. Especially these slings you're making.
