OTV = Off The Vine; a newsletter that Craig LeHoullier and Carolyn Male once published.

Craig had sent out seeds of Yellow Brandywine and got back seeds of a great looking red beesteak, PL, and a picture with it. Since I had much more room tha ne did I offered to dehybridize those crossed seeds and had to go out to the F5, aka 5 years, before it was genetically stable. I know lots of different versions of Rutgers but not one called Rutgers OTV.

I may be mis-remembering the Rutgers OTV, I thought I seen it somewhere in a seed catalog, but I don't remember where.
I understand now, OTV Brandywine is a named variety. Thanks. john |

Which I use a lot in e-mails as <G>. but don't use it here or at any message site where there are icons that I think are much more interesting.

Abbreviations are a fact of life and save time....but can get way out of hand.
I think clarifying if you are not sure what the term is is the way to go.... I also find it makes you think and explore the site to find out what the definition is....it can be time consuming but a learning experience.' I am new to this site, not to gardening or tomatos and have learned so much just in the few weeks I have started to use the forum here. I appreciate the long lists of definitions posted here, I only found them today when reading recent posts...a lot of effort and consideration went in to compile them. Thanks |
