I expect a few more and will add to a weekend planted cell tray tonight.
That's good, I'm sure more will sprout yet. Nothing to lose by trying either. Of course fresh seed always grows best but old tomato seed often germinates well when stored properly.

Update. That worked out very nice. First time using tweezers to move to seed cells.
I ended up with three of each and all i need. They look good.

Too many varieties to use the method for everything as direct seeding gets me 90%
with fresh seed. Saved fresh seed i have so many i just seed extra and cull.

Using this for a fresh pack of pepper seed that needs a longer germination.

Growing well and tolerating 5 degree c nights in the unheated cold frame. Budding up too!
Looking great so far, I think ripe tomatoes from these the beginning of June.

In 2 gallon pots and blooming. Nighttime temps in unheated cold frame 5-9 degrees Celsius. Daytime mainly cloudy outdoor temps 11-14, warmer in cold frame windows always open for ventilation.
Doing quite well considering the cold rainy weather.

These photos are really encouraging -- I managed to germinate a 10-year-old seed for a variety I really wanted to try (Black Pear, generously provided by ALittleSalt). It took more than 10 days to germinate and it's still tiny, but today I saw true leaves forming. Hopeful!

Thanks Darin, they are my special pets at the moment, far ahead of most others planted at the normal time. I hope to have some seed for those who grow in the fall who are interested, and I am looking forward to some early big ones in June

Setting fruit despite the cold nights and cool days. One day so far this year reached 20 degrees C.
A great tomato

90 days from the day the old seed was placed in the h2o2 soaked paper towel.
Setting fruit in the very cool spring temps.
