Are anyone's seeds up yet? Mine aren't.

I had a really sick thought. Would it be possible to radiate the fresh peppers after picking, so as to render the seeds sterile? That would be an effective way to maintain control over the variety, just like hybridizing.

I agree, very good to hear that they sprouting.

I do have a question. They pic these peppers for market at the best time when they nice and firm and pretty. For saving pepper seeds, I have always left the peppers stay on the vine til they are the very last color they can possibly be and then some to make sure the seeds are mature.

With store peppers being picked before full ripeness, does that mean that most of the seeds will be immature and not germinate and so maybe you have to sow extras?

I would love seeds to these!
Sprouts is my favorite grocery store but no Sprouts in my area,yet. I can wish!
I will go to Sprouts when we visit AZ in June,along with the Asian and Mexican grocery stores!

You must be commended for your patience, but that really isn't necessary. Some seeds mature long before the pod itself. You can easily grow jalapeños from green pods. Of course, as the pod ripens there are proportionately more mature seeds. But there is no need to deny yourself the pleasure of a pod for that.

I have 17 up from 18, I sowed extra in case germination wasn't good, but they have shot up! Just wish I had a better climate for growing peppers.

Thank you for that information. Good to know. Will save me from waiting months and months for ripened peppers.

JayC... Wow! You can have a mini field of colorful Enjoya's. If you don't mind, what method did you use to germinate yours?

I've also got several saved seeds planted out. By end of season this year we should have a good idea about the hybrid/OP nature of these things. I'm really interested in crossing the strip trait into some hot chile lines, if possible. I like the mental image of a striped jalapeno or habanero type chile.
