A week ago and today. It is definitely a twin tomato plant with two sets of true leaves. I've never seen something like this. Very interesting. Two New Big Dwarf plants in one.

Looks like genuine TWINS and not fused stem, to me.
BVV also has one like that. So it happens.

Well they aint seedlings anymore I've planted my first row out in the garden this is a whole row of green when ripe tomatoes. I know I'm early but I only have to protect 12 plants and I have backups.

Overnight temps appeared to be marching back to the 50s, but this week we backtracked to the low 40s. So I'm holding off until the second week of March for my tomatoes. Peppers are up already, but they will be in containers only this year.

My plant-out date is different every year, as I seem to have very inconsistent spring weather. Usually I plant the high tunnel in the first half of April. Outdoor gardens here get planted in May.

Here's a pic from today. They are ready to go into 6-packs.

I am getting ready to beat the "averages " , "statisticals " , "traditionals ". by about ONE MONTH. Sure there is a risk but also there is a reward.
As of yesterday I have 4 pioneers . I will plant some more one March 4th.
I asked the old guy, down the road (on Jan 5th) : "when do you think plant out date is in the garden ? "In May,I think " se said. . Well, they were planting maters in their greenhouse then. (The old man , about my age and his son ). Now the county extension center literature says April 10th. Hmmm. But how about March 10th ? I am shooting to harvest ripe tomatoes by early May.

My first batch has been moved to six-packs. They are sunning under the big light right now. They should get their first real sun in the greenhouse tomorrow.

Onions and some baby peppers. The hots are putting on true leaves and will get planted into 4" squares soon.

My first batch tomatoes are plant out size. And my second batch have their first true leaves.
This Sunday I will put more in the garden. !3 days forecast past Sunday looks great.
Once the first batch is taken care of I will baby the second batch plus eggplants and pepper till April 10. Still waiting for soil analysis report from the county co operative center.

I was hoping you still had a greenhouse, as the storms/tornados were bad in your area the other night. Any damage?

Nothing serious. The tornadoes were a little bit north of me. I was happiest to see our new high tunnels hold up to the storm.

We had a tornado a little north of me last weekend 1/4 mile wide and on the ground for 13 miles ... VERY rare for here and certainly extremely rare for February. Glad your greenhouses survived.

I'm sure she's the prettiest, whoever that is. I just covered them all up with plastic and a heater in the greenhouse. It's cold out tonight.
