You have superb taste buds!

All to say that at the time I made those choices I'd grown about 1200 varieties and now it's 3,000 plus and counting. I was slowed down after I fell in Dec of 2004 and had to use a walker.

So lots of newer great varieties in the interim but I'll still stick with many that I did include in the book.

Well, you did a great job because most have stood the test of time in my opinion. Which reminds me I just tasted Earl of Edgecombe for the first time at the Buffalo~Niagara Tomato party last year, and I loved it!! So I will be growing it this year.

In case anyone is wondering 1-113 are all from Carolyn's book. 114 was someone else's favorite. 115-123 are favorites of mine not listed in the book except for 121 which is a favorite of a couple other friends. Then 124-130 are other people's favorites mostly Craig's (NCTomatoman) if I remember correctly.

Took the test and got 4. In my defense, I just started growing last year lol. Those are some great pics on there. I'll have to try a few of them this year.

I enjoyed the fun also and scored 42. I doubt that I will go much higher as Villians are always
touting me on new-to-me varieties like Rebell Yell and whatever the "tomato of the year" might
be for 2014. It's a conspiracy, I say!!

20 for me. I can't grow PL tomatoes anymore. They all
get grey mold. I think I gave away most of them but kept
Stump of the World.

I went back through the list and found I have 106 now. Several of them were in my garden last year, mostly just because I had seed and wanted to try some new varieties.

Remy, did you notice the Mortgage Lifter pic? Red tomato, is it Estlers? Red Mortgage Lifter? I haven't looked in C's book to check which she wrote about. Also, Old Virginia looks a bit odd.

Darrel, the ML I had in my book was the original Radiator Charlie,MCByles one and seeds were commercially purchased.

I didn't talk about all the so called strains of ML and that includes ML ( Estler) b'c Jeff McCormack at the time was vigorously denying that there was an Estler one. That changed when Bill Estler sent seeds and documentation for it to Chuck Wyatt.

I also grew Estlers, sent to me by Chuck and in my current seed offer seeds are listed for ML (Estler) which I like better than the original one. Lots of hype on that one and I had other large pinks I liked better.

The only red ML I know is the one bred by Dr. Jeff McCormack.

I grabbed the link b'c I'd forgotten the parentage, but not given.

Edie at GW, who is part of the Estler family, as you know, I think gave the parentage, but I didn't take the time to track it down.

Good catch on the Mortgage Lifter pic. I used Southern Exposure's pic as I didn't have one myself, nad now that I go back to look at their description it says, " An improved version of 'Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter' which has added disease resistance, more uniform fruit, ripening to red rather than pink-red." So I'll have to swap out that pic.
I also got the pic of Old Virginia from there too. I looked around and there seems to be two Old Virginias floating around, the small round one, and a bigger beefsteak.

What is the proper description?

I only scored 12, but now I have many more to consider for years to come. Thanks, Remy!

Scored 42, might be 43 but the name of the far right tomato in the first row doesn't show up ....but it looks familiar. Five of this year's seed order are on the list so next year I can say 47
