What was the source of your seeds? That would help. Via remy and tasting party or elsewhere?

Looks like Nicky might have brought it to the tasting,you were there,laid hands on some seeds as folks often do at a tasting,etc.

Purely theoretical here, but the dots kind of connect. I didn't take the time to em remy to confirm any of this,I know you went to some of her tastings, but I didn't confirm that Nicky did as well,but can do so if necessary.

My little baby = Buffalo-Niagara Tomato TasteFest! Yes, it's my little baby, I thought it up & suggested it 10 years ago, Remy agreed & had a location, and the rest is history as they say.

I will have to check old emails and spreadsheets to see where I got Lucky Cross, but NO, it did not come from the TasteFest, possibly the inverse--there is a chance I brought the first pink LC to the BNTTF, I must go check the contestant lists.

There is a chance my source is Craig or YOU. I think I discussed this with Craig in the past,I think he acknowledged there's a rare chance of getting a pink, so I saved seeds from it and only regrew it this year for the first time because the seeds were over 8-10 years old. I think this predates Nicky's pink LC so I didn't inquire.

I always appreciate ALL you have done & shared for all of us, but did you ever check those links? I didn't see much on-topic substance on the first link, other than a pic of a pink LC with a cubed cut tomato beneath it, a tomato at Tomatofest perhaps, but turned out to be a Pinterest pin, with a real LC when you click on the pink LC...

The 2nd link I did not read all 11 pages, but if you provide T'ville links, there is an option to show the exact post containing what you looked for, though a search for Pink Lucky Cross may take you to a page that lists not Pink Lucky Cross, BUT INSTEAD someone's grow list containing PINK Brandywine, Captain LUCKY, and Korney's CROSS.

I checked my own Pink Lucky Cross photo and it was meta-dated 10-13-2004. So they are from LC seeds I received prior to that date--probably back in the old GW days. The Sharpie writing corresponds to the list # so no other use to mistake it.
So my original post was because it was a variation of a variety that should be a bi-color but results were different...........

Now I know exactly what you are referring to and it's Liam's Brandywine,which is not a pure Brandywine at all.

Larry,who lived near Craig was doing some early growouts of Lucky Cross,got a pink,named it Liam's Brandywine,SSE listed it,unfortunately,Linda Sapp somehow got it and when I saw that in her catalog I ASAP called her about it and she deleted it ASAP sinces she had listed it as a true variant,whatever,of Brandywine..

No,I wouldn't have sent it to you since I knew from the get go reading about it in the SSE Yearbook,asked Craig about it and he said he didn't even know larry had listed it but did know about it , thus his answer to you.

That was great reading, but I think this may change things--the seeds sown by me were labeled Lucky Cross, not Pink Lucky Cross!

No shock here,just connect the dots. Once you can remember where you got it from it makes sense that someone would label it Lucky Cross, and didn't tell you it was an early discovery from segregation that was pink.

Throwing it back to you Mark, for you to solve.

Just saw this, have a few min so will jump in. The line that produced Lucky Cross, Little Lucky, Don's Double Delight, Large Lucky Red, Caitlin's Lucky Stripe (those are the ones Lee or me worked on) are but a fraction of the incredible diversity in this line. Even heart shapes showed up, and it shows in Little Lucky Heart. I have so many partial stripes - all sorts of variations.

Anything pink and potato leaf that pops out of Lucky Cross - especially relatively early generations - are likely closely related to one of the parents, Brandywine.

One thing seems consistent - the flavors of pretty much everything that I've grown out of this line is really excellent.

I've gotten the ..."token has expired.." 3x now...

When I look up C8, it shows up as Lucky Cross 2004 and the name "Mark" but no last name. When I search for "Mark" it crosses to:
Lucky Cross
Ernie's Plump
Kellogg's Breakfast
Omar's Lebanese
Blue Ridge Mountain
Neves Azorean Red
Antohi Romanian pepper
and maybe a couple other tomatoes (IIRC, I'm on a tablet...)
Anybody remember a Mark besides me on GW? It's a little foggy, 12+ years ago, but I'm thinking Midwest or FL for some reason...

There's something buggy about vbulletin, the software that runs this forum, and most other web site forums, too. From what I read, some people solve the problem by clearing their browser cache and opening a new browser window. You could try that to see if it helps. Until then, if you hit CTRL-A, CTRL-C that will copy your post to the clipboard. If you lose it, you should be able to paste it back with one right-click or keyboard shortcut CTRL-V.

That's how I did it! I use it all the time! (except 1 of 3 times today and once last night when I got the error message!) But it's great that you posted it, many people don't know CTRL Key shortcuts exist!

Thanks Craig but those don't ring any bell. I think the name starts with FL, maybe not Florida but maybe something like Flora or Floria...
