If I ever write a book it will be definately in Russian and I have to sell our dacha to publish it) Russian is quite difficult to learn so you better start right now))

Has anyone mentioned Moravsky Div? I'm not growing it this year, but in the past it has been early.

Caspian Pink has also performed well early in the season.

Big Beef and Juliet .........

I have quite the respect now for Gregori's Altai as it also flourished in our record breaking heat in years past ....while other cool set varieties were slowed down quite a bit ..

They might not actually be the first ripe fruit harvested ...but at least they are set and on the way and Indeterminate !

Happy Season all you Cool Climate Growers !
Gregori's Altai is versatile. Takes our "cold" and heat with ease, great fruit set, flavor is somewhat lacking but everything else about it makes you a fan.

Just participating in the tomato world forces you to learn Russian. I'm liking it a lot.

I'm growing Moravsky Div for the first time. Have grown Stupice before and liked it. Supposed to be the same thing, different strain....

I have tried Moravsky Div
and Stupice and Kotlas ....they seem to me to be so similar with the Potato leaf etc.
I always liked Matina ...it as was later than the above varieties ...but blemish free fruit ...which is a bonus in my cool rainy "shorter than you think" season.

I am liking the looks of a Potato variety I tried last year/this year for containers ...Schelicauski ......Jointless and seemingly adaptable and early.

many folks prefer Quedlinburger Fruhe Liebe for flavor but I am afraid
My sense of taste is not so discerning to such a fine point .

I have been known to enjoy "spitters" as well .

Shchelkovskiy Ranniy is the right name of this early Russian CV
Щелковский ранний.
Shchelkovo is a small town in the Moscow region.

Agatha was my best early determinate this year. It did well through a cold, wet May.

100 Pudov also did well. It's mid-season, not early, but a real standout in regard to flavor.

Another I have to say is doing well is a Mysterious one I got from Tatiana's

called "Buckbee" that may or may not be related to Buckbee '54 days it does not match this one Buckbee 54 description ...... so the actual origin may be lost.

But it is a compact indeterminate RL that developed quickly and had profuse flowers and set fruit in a cool low light/ shady environment as well as regular location environment very noticeable early ! the baby fruit are close to 'egg" shaped ...so will see how the mature fruit rounds out .

If it is compact , early , indeterminate and container friendly ...it may be a good one and useful to me .

...it is to bad it seems the actual origin is a mystery .

I have Buckbee's New 50 Day, which I got in a swap. It sounds like the variety you are describing. It produced well. Flavor was not bad.

These two are the same Russian variety Shchelkovskiy Ranniy. I've been sending its seeds worldwide for at least 12 years so far...
