Just plain old table salt. Generic is cheap. You get a lot of mileage out of each reloading. My brother had a lot of fun playing with mine. He shot every bug he could find. Wasps are a bit harder to kill with it. They need a few close up blasts.

I had not found any more norms since I started this thread but I was picking some ornamental peppers and lo and behold a big fat one, which I promptly dispatched.

Did they eat your pepper plants?

Are you shooting bugs on the plant? I would think that would damage the plant.

Aw, plants are tough. At least as tough as donuts.

Evidently it was just getting started as there was was very little damage. The plant is in a container and is doing very well and you would have to look very hard to find any missing leaves.

I haven't used it on the plants myself, only on hard surfaces. If you put the tip of the gun right up to the hornworms it would only give them a concentrated blast. If you hold it back farther it may get a little salt embedded in the stems, but I doubt it would do any harm. It doesn't shoot far with any force, so it needs to be a close kill.

That was the most disgusting video I ever saw.
Fly guts on my food.
