Dotson's 2018 Garden in Spartanburg, SC

A few garden pics from today, July 8, 2018. In order are: Overhead view, DLH, Karma Pink, GGWT fruit, GGWT plant, Paul Robeson, Post Office Spoonful, and Aker's West Virginia. The production monsters this year are GGWT and Paul Robeson- this plant just continues to pump out delicious fruit, even in 90+ degrees. My one DLH plant is not doing well this year, it started out rather sickly but appears to be overcoming it. Karma Pink is highly productive, and exhibits leaf curl/droopy look no matter how much water it gets. The fruit are quite tasty in salads! P.O.S. is starting to take off with the highly branched, fractal growth tendency that it has. Finally, Aker's WV is a really impressive plant, with about 10 very large ribbed fruit not too far from ripening. It has a stout and vertical growth habit, and does not take off like many other vining types.

Not shown is Not Purple Strawberry (medium production), Kellogg's Breakfast (started late), and Lucky Cross (recovering from an illness). Of the three Stick plants I had, two died, and the third is hanging on for dear life.

Darin, last year I had Dotson's Lebanese Heart in the second row. Impressed by its performance, this year it got a prime spot in the first row. Man, is that plant GRATEFUL! Tomatoes are DOUBLE the size of last year!

First picture, GGWT (2), Paul Robeson (2), and a ripening Aker's WV. Second picture, L to R: Early Girl, unknown black plum tomato, Lucky Cross. I'm looking forward to tasting Lucky Cross- any feedback on taste? The plant is recovering nicely from it's illness.

Aker's WV continues to pump out 1 lb+ fruit consistently, and beautiful fruit. Cannot wait to taste them! This specimen is 6 inches in diameter, and probably close to 2 pounds.

A few nice ripe examples this morning- Aker's WV, GGWT, and Lucky Cross on the top. The second photo is a ripe Aker's WV, about 24 oz.

Thanks Karen- we have been waiting for 4 days for it to ripen here on the counter. I was afraid a bird would get it . We are cutting it up tonight

Amen Salsacharley, I've noticed quite a few worm holes on my Early Girls. Time to get out the bug spray this weekend

Those are gorgeous Nan! And with the green stripes that I usually see on the big ones. Are these pointy, or more blunt in shape?
