Granadero, Plum Regal, BHN-1021, Rosado De Aracena
Hello All,
I've got happy plants basking in the summer sun. Growing TSWV resistant and others I've selected for their fitness. The official list is: post title + Zaragozano de Utebo Negro de Moratalla Tyazheloves Sibiri Gone are the days of exhaustive explorations. This year I switched to concrete mixing tubs (medium ones, 10 gal volume), and invested in quality mix-amendments and bioinsecticides. I was finally able to get the thrips under control, even during full citrus blooms. Spinetoram, Flonicamid, and Neem/Karanja is the winning combo, as it practically eliminates aphids, whiteflies, thrips, mealy bugs, fungus gnats, leaf miners, and others. I've yet to see spider mites, and it's been bone dry for weeks now. Only lost 3 out of 100+ plants to TSWV. More than acceptable for my garden. I can have a crop again. These plants are being pushed with Haifa MKP, Cal Nitrate, Mag Sulfate, Micros. I like having access to the Ag area stores. The peppers are chinenses, Naga Morich and two Carolina Reapers And finally the lower leaves are bummed out from the trellis installation, they got squeezed. |

I gave up on Heirlooms as my Main crop and grew mostly hybrids this year, Big Beef, Jetstar and Beef Master. Almost all of my Heirlooms split last year, Cherokee purple, Brandywine Red, True Black Brandywine.
My only Heirlooms this year are a Kosova and Abe Lincoln. I haven't had one tomato split this year June 19 June 25th June 27th June 30th July 1st July 3rd July 11th July 15th July 17th And a couple weights f f |

Kosovo is an outstanding heart in terms of texture, size, productivity, versatility, and flavor. You chose wisely. Based on that, I think you'd like Nicky Crain a large pink heart, dense, productive, similar to Dester. I'm out of seeds. Give Indian Stripe PL, Pink Berkeley Tie Dye or Daniel Burson a run and they might surprise you with their productivity and flavor. Compact plants more or less. True Black Brandywine is the only tomato whose flavor has invoked "sweaty horse blanket" and other not so cool descriptors around here. Brandywine, 'tis a fickle one. Cowlicks or Sudduth's are better candidates in terms of productivity and flavor. Either ISPL or DBurson will make you forget about Cherokee Purple. Nice work as always. |
