Oops!! I think I have ADD because I usually have at least one seed mix up mislabeled plant per season... :-)

Not sure if it is the cold weather or tomato tone fertilizer i used in this pot two weeks ago, but look how much my lettuce darkened up. In person its totally beautiful... reminds me of the pictures of the Merlot lettuce.
These two photos are the exact same plants with pictures taken two weeks apart. Two weeks ago... This morning (photo taken with flash.. the plant is much darker without flash). Same plant no flash. This is more of what it looks like in person... Ginny Last edited by Fiishergurl; January 16, 2016 at 10:42 AM. |

Ginny I read somewhere once that it apparently has to do with "stress" on the lettuce. They turn the darker colour when they have been exposed to some stresses. I guess that could be very cold weather as well. D9nt know how true it is but I found the explanation interesting at the time.

Beautiful Ginny, makes the days and weeks go by for sure and fun coming home to. I must say tomatoes and edibles are by far the most challenging, yet one of the most rewarding hobbies I have done thus far, and I have ALOT of hobbies.

My old standby... Black cherry. Right now the only ones planted out are Black Cherry and Early Girl.... mainly as a test to see if they get the virus. The main seedlings are getting bigger and go inside at night and out in the sun during the day. So far so good.

Seems like my seedlings grow more every night. They would be taller but i transplanted them deep into the solo cups and keep adding potting mix as they grow. Most of the cups are culled down to one or two seedlings.
Heres the temps. Night time temps don't matter for the seedlings as they ce in at night. Ginny |
