Something from southern Moravia - Page 6

On Sunday we were on the nice walking in the Lednice- Valtice Area (the southernmost part of South Moravia). We begun by the visit of Lednice castle and after 13 km of walk we ended on the visit Valtice castle.

At the end of the 18th century, the Liechtenstein family began to create a unique manmade landscape complex: The Lednice – Valtice Area. Today The Lednice-Valtice Area is registered in the list of monuments protected as World Heritage by UNESCO

Thanks forthose outstanding pictures you shared with us.

WhenI had to retire there were so many places I wanted to travel to that included the Czech Republic, Moldova, Ukraine,Turkey,Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Estonia, and so many more, but then when I fell and had to use the walker my dreams of more travel disappeared.

However, I had travelled widely before that, to France, Scandinavia, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland,Italy, Greece and the Greek Isles, Spain, Portugal , Israel and Morocco, not all in one trip, that's for sure, so I consider myself lucky to have seen what I saw, ate what I did, and got to meet some wonderful people.

Carolyn, you've visited in Europe, full of beautiful country.
Until the age of 50 years, I was only twice in Yugoslavia, three times in the Polish Tatras once in the GDR and several times in Budapest. Although I have traveled to a friendly country, so I felt like a criminal on the border. Once it happened to me that I had to undress into shorts and customs officer reached into my pocket if I had any money there.
When we traveled to Yugoslavia, we sunk into the sock some money (Deutschmarks), we could at least buy the children something to drink or ice cream.
Therefore, we usually spended holidays with children in Czechoslovakia, either in the mountains or we went to castles (train, bus, backpack and walking). And we still walk with my wife, only we two now.
In the Czech Republic it is possible to visit more than one hundred castles. In some we were two, three and possibly more than once, some tours are still waiting. In some we were twice possibly more times, some tours are still waiting us.

From the 17th century were Lichtenstein's richest nobles in Central Europe after the imperial Habsburg family. Estate in the Czech Republic they lost after World War II. Their ancestral seat is Lichensteinské Principality state on the borders of Switzerland and Austria, with the capital Vaduz.

Last week we were in South Čechách- journey through castles and chateaux. We walked only 40 km, because was very hot 32 ° C (96 ° F). We were in the historic town of Tabor which founded the followers of John Huss in 1420 . We also visited some of the castles in this area.

priest, philosopher, early Christian reformer John Huss was burned at the stake in July 6, 1415 (6.7 is the National Day of the Czech Republic).
