Just had a thought. Then I started to count. I have tried exactly 11% of the varieties in the book.

..... soooo still a lot to go

Default Carolyn Male huh !!

After an absence of MANY years, I've returned to gardening as decreed by my MD. She - the MD - decided I needed an outside interest and that outside interest would be gardening. (Only later did I learn of her love for heirloom tomatos !!)

I've been reading about this "Carolyn" person in several forums without being certain who she was. Anyway Carolyn, I've had your book for almost two years now and, as proof of your books continuing popularity, your book remains in my 'throne room' !!

Wart, I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am to know that my book remains in your thrown room.

And may you pass the time comfortably with my book at hand.

I guess this is the best place to post this, but I"m not sure, maybe Conversations might get more readers, but this is about my book and this is the thread about my book.

About two months ago I started getting e-mails and phone calls from several places that carried my book on both websites and in catalogs saying that they had a deadline for their print catalogs and couldn't get a clear answer when they contacted Workman Press about the book availability.

And I was asked to find out what I could. I finally got thru to Peter Workman himself and the situation was that there were no more books, look at the price at Amazon if you want to chuckle as in $40-50, and a decision had to be made about reprinting it.

The decision was complicated b'c it was Smith and Hawken who subcontracted to Workman to do a series of four books, of which mine was one of them.

Cutting to the chase Peter Workman called me a week ago last Friday and said they had decided to reprint the book and on Monday I got a card confirming that.

The book is four color and so is being done in China as is true of most four color books these days. Peter said it wouldn't be available for about two months. So maybe sometime in mid to late January, I guess.

Now I have to e-mail back the folks who had contacted me b'c they had to go ahead and leave my book out of print catalogs and 2008 websites, I guess, and let them know what the situation is so when it's available again they can add it easily to their websites.

If you have any questions or comments I'm here to try and answer them.

Carolyn,
I just finished reading your book last night. It was wonderful. If your aim was to send my list of tomatoes I'd like to try up to about 181, you did a fine job.
Really enjoyed it and am glad to hear they are doing a reprint.

Carolyn, I was planning on purchasing your book at TGS w/ my seed order. I went to check it out immediately after it was posted that the 2008 catalog hit the computer. I looked at books and it was not there. I was since I waited all of this time so I could do it together. I was going to call and ask if they had some sitting around somewhere. Oh well, I will have to find a way. I was planning on snuggling next to the fireplace and reading your book since it is so freaking COLD here.

Thanks again for explaining the situation.

Nancy

I don't know for sure yet, I don't know what the Mongolians trade in.
I think right know they still want more horses and camels.

Hard bunch of guys to deal with.

It appears as if all the used copies on Amazon are gone now.

Why do I think a bunch of yunz started sending hatemail to the entrepreneurs who were selling the book at $40?

Hmmph, all the glowing reviews are missing as well.

I looked at Amazon and found 2 copies: 1 at £30+ (over $60) the other at £64.
Googled and found one at <$15 but they will only sell to US.

www.chapters.indigo.ca lists them at $22.50CAD, sells them at $14.85CAD and if you're an iRewards member (LOL) $14.11CAD.......and yes, they're in stock and will ship to the States and other International destinations. Their website lists the shipping rates for items and rare/used books.

http://www.booksamillion.com/ncom/books?redirect=1

Someone PMed me and said that this site also had books, but I didn't check it out.

The new ones should be here in just a few weeks and I just can't see paying inflated prices for the book.
