I picked quite a few tomatoes yesterday. Chocolate stripes had had the worst of the cat facing. Unfortunately. The two that I wanted to make sauce out of are the least producing right now. What if I throw all varieties in the tomato mill and make sauce? How bad would it be?

Mixed tomatoes make the BEST sauce ever! I guarantee it! You just have to reduce the liquid to your wished consistency. And you may be disappointed by the odd color of it (it certainly won't be red), but surely not by the taste! Trust me, I always do it like that and my sauces are jummy!

Well luckily I just sold most of them to a local bistro. $1.00 lb. He is getting a good deal. I think I will charge more next year. Maybe $1.25 lb.

I took a picture of one of the stems. The inside stems of the plants have just dried up and are crunchy. The stems fall off of the plant.

Andrea.

Great harvest!

Someone will probably identify your tomato disease from the photo. I always expect some disease to wipe out my tomatoes at some point during the season. In my mind, it is just a natural and normal part of growing tomatoes. It used to frustrate me, but it no longer does. For some reason, the tomato diseases were late arriving this year and I became tired of dealing with so many tomatoes. The diseases did finally arrive when the tomato plants were almost finished producing for the spring season. I never get tomato diseases in my fall garden. I believe it is because our humidity is much lower in fall than spring.

Thanks!

Yeah, I need to learn to accept this also. Unfortunately, we only have one sorry growing season

Yes, this was the summer for higher humidity, few ladybugs, and disease on the tomato plants. Our humidity is usually under 10%, but the rains have changed that drastically. On the better side, my cukes and beets have provided great harvests. Just no canned tomatoes this year.

However, Dork Fish, your tomatoes look stupendous, a great harvest, and you could sell those beauties here for close to $5 a pound! I know I'd pay that for your huge ones.

This weather is horrendous. I'd spray, but since it seems to rain EVERY DAY, what's the point.

Gorgeous, and so many! I would definitely charge at least $2/lb--still an excellent deal for homegrown heirlooms.

Thanks guru, I wish. I don't think I have even broke even for selling them at $1.00 lb. Not doing that next year.

2nd, yeah. I have put a lot of time and money into this year's garden. I love doing it but would like to make something more back on it
