Whenever I get caught up on the outside stuff today, I'm going to start a thread about Rosemary. I'm pretty sure there is an herbs section here. |

Decided I dont feel like smoking meat today.
I took the meat out it is cured and tried some and it is good. I dried it off rubbed it down with insta cure #2 and packed it in ice cream salt. Back in the refrigerator it goes to get rid of the moisture. Will overhaul it in the middle of the week with new salt and do this smoking thing next weekend. Just in time for a brisket bacon BLT later if I get a tomato from the garden. |

Worth, have you ever grown winter squash? The squash bugs here are beyond horrible. That's why I'm only planting six mounds of summer squash in one raised bed. I'm hoping I can keep a better eye on them and spray them with dish soap water fast and often enough.

I have 4 tobacco seedlings and they are not volunteers.
It has been the most challenging to grow them. You need to have a magnifying glass to see the seeds. And the most slow growing. Now I understand why tobacco is not cheap. I pay $15 per pound for some generic pipe tobacco in the tobacco capital of the world. In WA it cost $25. This is despite the fact that pipe tobacco is not as heavily taxed as cigarette.

I picked up some national pickling and Boston pickling seeds plus some flying saucer squash seeds on the way home from work.
Have no clue where I am going to plant them. Well yes I do. Worth |

I've got some extra tomato plants that I'm going to plant out in the woods just to see if they'll grow in almost complete dappled shade.
Are flying saucer squash these? http://www.johnnyseeds.com/vegetable...seed-2953.html |

I have grown some of those called Scaloppini (?).
Didn't like the much. I think back and remember that they were too tough. BTW: All okra seedlings planted out today: LA Green Velvet Baby Bubba Emerald.
