Lovely. I'd never heard of 'walking' iris before.

Interesting supports for the Amarylis stems.

The neighborhood amaryllis are all out now; pretty time of year.

Same here. Some people have dozens of them.

Default Bearded iris

I am not supposed to be able to grow these here, but a big box store was selling the rhizomes and the pictures on the packages looked so pretty that I bought four of them. The rhizomes didn't look like they were the best quality. Anyway, I planted them and one of the plants sent up a bloom stalk and it bloomed beautifully. The other three plants look healthy but none of them have sent up bloom stalks.

Donna, if you don't tell the plants what the so called experts say, then you can often grow things where you are not supposed to be able to. It's all about local micro climates rather than the broad, sweeping areas and generalisations that the experts often talk in. I have changed many peoples thinking over the years by actually growing (Australian native) plants where they were not supposed to be able to be grown and letting them see the plants for themselves

Default Tiger lilies

I planted two pots of these a few months ago and they are finally starting to bloom. However, the first two blooms look very odd to me.

When I see photos of tiger lilies, their anthers and filaments are prominently displayed. None of my blooms so far have been like that.

Default Crinum

These lilies are repeat bloomers all season when the weather is warm. I have lots of them growing around a large oak tree.

I have a nice white one left by a previous house owner. It’s planted in a tough spot beside the garage and gets by with no supplemental water whatsoever. Good fragrance, too.

Yours looks much better cared for!

Default Lessons learned with gladioli

So in the middle of February I planted some pots of gladioli bulbs. They never thrived and looked healthy and I didn't get any blooms.

1. I think I planted the bulbs too early, even though some sites on the internet said mid Feb. was OK to plants bulbs for my area. The soil was not warm enough.
2. These plants get way too tall for pots (unless maybe you have a really large container). And perhaps they were too crowded.
3. I didn't have the best quality bulbs..they were small and came from a big box store.

So later on in the season I planted some bulbs in nooks and crannies...wherever I could find room. About half bloomed. Dappled sunlight seemed to work best. I had to stake most of them when they sent up bloomstalks.

And I didn't know bees liked them.
