We harvested the last of the Brandy Boy's (still producing nice sized tomatoes!) that we wanted and closed the Greenhouse early this year. The GH is bare naked except for supports and some Impatiens we are letting grow. We have pulled back most of the supports on both sides of the GH so it is easier to work in the beds.
I think this is the earliest we have ever closed the GH. Normally I would leave the GH open until October or November. We are still using the GH for an important function though! We always cure our onions inside the GH to protect the onions from freezing temperatures and the rain. We run the window and ceiling fans during the day for good ventilation. The onions cure well in the GH and will store at 40° F in our heated shop until April or May. |
