Cucumbers, What are you growing

Pulled 7 of them today and more are coming. Went to pick 4 and found 3 others hiding. Slow starter but its making up for it now.



along with my first tomatoes of the year.

ammended the soil with cotton burr compost and manure. Gave them a little fish emulsion early on and side dressed once with tomato tone so far.

Are you having any pollination problems? Little Black Ants (LBA) are doing my pollination since I have not seen any bees.

I am having pollination problems with the LBA's being my friend as well. On my PK, I did a bunch of hand pollinating but decided on the Lemon and BB to let mother nature take its course and see what happens.

The lower one seems to be fully pollinated, but the one at the top has a curve to it that suggests incomplete pollination.

I have had the occasional curved fruit even on Diva, but didnt realize it was poor pollination. I have straight 8 seedlings now by the way, first time growing them and they are the most popular cuke grown by locals

I'm pretty sure that cucumbers only grow as much fruit/flesh as is needed to feed the seeds that pollinate. In my limited experience, curved or deformed cucumbers initially point to incomplete pollination. If you are hand pollinating and there are extra male flowers, try using more than one male flower to each female.

Here is Diva, which has really slowed down but has produced close to 30 fruit so far. Hoping it has a second wind.

Hi Shelley! I've been so busy in the garden! It's raining today, so I've got time to catch up.

I was very pleased with white wonder, and I will be growing it again this season. It's a small, pickling cuke with a slight greenish tint. I found them to be very crisp and tasty, but I've never met a cucumber that I didn't like... except those monsters in the grocery stores!
