Fact is,when I came back here to post to your post about the request to Mischka your post was still not here, but could that be a browser em problem,I don't know since others have reached me at home as well. I assume that your request to Mischka went to him directly, that has nothing to do with me.I can't tell you if he received your request,I just Emed him about this to his home as well as several other issues that are troubling to me. I do appreciate his advice as actually others do appreciate my advice about how to handle a dicey issue from time to time. No,I see no reason to Pm him again,if you already have done so once. As I said, he gets lots of PM's and has much to do about maintaining the site, however I can directly e-mail him as I did,and no, he can't always get back to me ASAP either. My backup when it's a real emergency situation is to call him at home, but I seldom have I had to do that. That should clarify the situation for both you and TnPeppers Carolyn

Now that the discussion has returned to its original intent, please let me make a few comments and clarifications ...
First of all, when I initially read the original post, I did not know who Miss S. was, and did not know how in the world Daniel Burson had gotten to the F8 generation, as I had not grown out the generations myself to anything past F5, with most of my seed stock being n two large packets from my best F4 plants. Then I got a message from Container Ted who informed me that he had received a large quantity of Daniel Burson seeds as a gift from "Patti" and wondered about the possibility of selling some of those seeds thru a joint venture with Heritage Seeds or Bunny Hop Seeds, basically a joint project between two persons with whom I have had a very respectful and cooperative seed sharing relationship in the past. My initial response to Ted was that I did not know "Patti" well enough to verify the conformation of Patti's F8 (I believe it is) seed lot with the F5 seed lot I had sent to Carolyn for distribution via her 2016 seed share later this summer. Ted decided, all on his own accord, to test the Daniel Burson seeds he'd gotten from Patti, and not to sell them, rather to sell seeds that he himself grows this summer. That was Ted's decision based upon his own values and morals as a tomato grower and seed distributor, and whether he sells them or distributes them via SASE, etc., is of no concern to me. Ted is free to do as he pleases with those Daniel Burson seeds, and there's no reason I can see now that he shouldn't share them or sell them if he wishes to do so. The Bunny Hop/Heritage project would be a great outlet, in my opinion. But that's up to Ted. For myself, I have decided not to sell tomato seeds any longer, a decision I made after discovering that I do not need to sell anything or work for pay any longer, as my Social Security and retirement investments are all I need to live a modest and comfortable life. Additionally, and as I told Ted, I no longer wish to restrict any of the tomato lines I've created (as a hobby, not in a professional capacity anyway), and that anything that may have been released previously, whether with or without restriction, now is liberated seed, so to speak ... anyone is free to do whatever they wish with anything I have distributed over the past 9 years ... EXCEPT ... I must continue to restrict ALL green-when-ripe expressions of anything that was or continues to be labeled "RGN-16" or to have those letters and numbers as part of the appellation affixed to a packet of seeds. The reason for this single restriction is that several years ago, I received a gift from a previous Tomatoville member of some F2 seeds from a cross made by Dr. Randy Gardner of NC 1-CELBR x Malachite Box, and Dr. Gardner expressed to me, when I inquired a to his wishes, that I not distribute segregations from that particular cross, without a restriction, UNTIL I had used it in subsequent outcrossing of my own, which I now have done, and which now may be out there with other appellations such as RGN-14, KZU, Copperhead Road, Corner Pocket, et al. But the restriction remains on RGN-16 expressions that are green-when-ripe or GWR/bicolor. Okay, back to Daniel Burson as relates to this thread ... After messaging back and forth with Container Ted a couple of times, I realized that Miss S is Patti, and although I have not communicated directly with Patti, or don't recall such, I have received seeds that Patti has grown, received them thru another Tomatoville member with whom I have shared crosses we both have made, back and forth for several years, a fellow in Carolina named Timothy, whom I trust completely, and who has helped me immensely in proving the heat tolerance and viability of several tomato lines. So, this year I got some seeds from Timothy which both he and Patti have worked on, yes, labeled such that I noticed immediately are from the RGN-16 origin. Those seeds from Patti were the first to sprout in my initial seed drops, and are the most advanced, robust, and first to flower. The only other equally advanced transplants I'm holding, until this horribly unsettled Midwestern/Ohio Valley weather subsides, are four WildThyme bicolor F3s that I dropped back and reexamined from a 2011 seed batch. Seems like Patti's farther north Midwestern garden has contributed some degree of advanced adaptability to early flowering, and hopefully earlier maturity. I'm impressed and thankful to say the least ... thank you Miss S! So, what about my apprehension with regard to F8 generation Daniel Burson? I think, between Timothy possibly, and another more southern gardening friend in Mississippi, there were two crops per season grown out for a couple years there which resulted in Daniel Burson being advanced two F-generations per year for a time, while I was only able to grow one generation per summer beginning in 2010 with the F1. (Insert: I still have the 2010 F2 seeds I saved, which came from a Regular Leaf plant with Raspberry Pink, significantly flattened, 12 - 14 ounce per fruit beefsteak type. The single plant I grew came from seeds I had saved from a 2009 Indian Stripe plant gro Edit: several paragraphs of the original text of this message have disappeared, and I don't intend to try and recreate them. I'm about done trying to post long detailed messages from my phone, too. it's very tedious and dissapointing especially when stuff disappears Last edited by travis; May 11, 2016 at 04:11 PM. |

Im truly sorry to read this as I was looking forward to viewing photos of plants and tomatoes you grow from the Dan. Burson seeds you obtained from "Gary," especially since I have no idea who Gary is or his source of seeds.

I don't read the Contact Us emails anymore, since they're 99% spam from the web now and hundreds arrive daily. It would literally take up my entire day just to sort through them.
Ditto for reading every new post made. The site is on the brink of reaching critical mass and I am faced with having to make some major changes, regardless of whether I like it or not. The best way to get my attention is to click on the little Report Post icon. It generates an email sent directly to my personal email, which I do check several times, over the course of 24 hours. It also sends a notification to me here, which pops up on-screen when I first log in.

tnpeppers, I hope you will keep posting on TV... Now that we all know how to report a problem to Mischka. I'm sure this will not happen again. This is one of the best Tomato forum on the internet. It's people like you that make it a great site. I'm growing Daniel Burson this year. I to was looking forward to viewing photos of plants and tomatoes you are growing. Please except the apology and keep posting on the TV forum.

I do believe that tnpeppers will still be participating in this thread. Gary is Tormato and runs the Mostly Mystery Mater Mailing every year here at Tville. He like Carolyn is not the source of the seeds but rather just a distributor. He does a great job of it too. As the name of the swap implies, who the seeds are from are a mystery. I sent some into the 2015 MMMM swap. My seeds are not those that tnpepper has grown. He got his seeds just as I did in 2014. Most likely we have gotten them from the same source. Just to be certain, I did purchase one of his seed packs off of eBay so that I can compare his plants next to mine. I was hoping that Carolyn would have had her seed offer open so that I could also compare yours to mine. The seeds that I distributed are F7. This years crop will produce F8.

Must be a problem with my phone. Very frustrating considering how much time it takes to type, proof, and edit tapping it out on a diminutive keyboard.

TracyDr! Long time no talk... I do remember us talking about AZ when you lived here and how successful you were at growing. I don't want to change the thread- but just say hi!
