Yep it is shaping up to be year of the shape here... many thanks for the delightful little pears. Medovaya Kaplya is growing em up fast! Grusha Roz. is coming on a bit later, and these funny Sashas are super cute.... besides, two of my F1's are producing a mix of shapes - be sure they'll try to imitate the pears if they notice how I'm admiring them...

I have a question about the "Tashkent" marigold (bonus flower seeds). Does anyone know how tall it gets?

For me, its about 2 ft. Tall...But super bushy round. Beautiful dark mahogany red.

Are you growing them in horse manure???? {LOL}

Mine are only 10" tall, quite bushy, beautiful flowers, although not terribly floriferous. They get afternoon sun and probably would prefer all-day sun.

I like to scatter them through the garden between tomatoes.. this is just before frost last year.

Marigold Tashkent was my ONLY 'garden fail' of the year...they would not germinate...not one.
What are your secrets?

I started mine on damp paper towel and 6 out of 8 germinated.

is there more than one variety called "glacier"? I read it is supposed to be determinate potato leaf with small red early tomatoes.
What I have growing is about 7 feet tall, certainly potato leaf and loaded up with large slightly ribbed tomatoes.... green still so not sure of the final result.
I received the seed in this or Nicky's swap, not sure. anybody else growing "glacier" from seed received in a swap this past fall?
It's a really good looking tomato but It ain't glacier according to the descriptions I see.

I am also growing Glacier from the Mystery Mater swap, and the plant is as you described - PL and bushy but not determinate as I expected, except mine has large clusters of quite small, not large, somewhat ribbed fruit. Mine have been ripening for a while now. I put it outdoors when I realized it was indeterminate and tied it to a tree. Taste is average for an early red, fruit a bit on the mushy side, at least when grown in the greenhouse.

Hmmm interesting. I think this must be an unstable accidental cross we planted. anybody else??
Here's mine, a very small blossom scar, not quite a heart but sort of. not early as none are ripe yet in a prime spot on my south deck... I think it will be pink somehow but that's just a guess. Anybody know who sent the seed and what else they were growing? Likely never know the cross but if this tastes good, It's maybe worth stabilizing because it is a really nice plant, nice looking fruit and productive.
