You have to look at what you have to offer and decide on the like types you would like to have back. Many times what you have will fit into more than one category. Do you like all one color? Do you like salad types? Do you like cherries? After you decide what you like then look to see where what you are growing works for which category. Make what you have work to get what you would like in return. It is not easy, but not hard either.

I'm in! I would love to have some Sun gold, too. I will chip in some money to help with that seed purchase.

Now more confusing. I thought there are two parts of the swap.
One is like a regular swap. You post 15 wanted varieties (no matter what category) in the other thread and if other people saw that they will send in those seeds. To make this work you need to send in 15 bags of seeds to trade back 15 bags of wanted seeds. The other part is for the category swap. You send in 10 bags of same seeds of one category and you will get 10 bags of different seeds of the same category. Of course you can participate in more than one category. Am I still lost? Quote:

Return postage, included in your package sent to me, is stamps or cash. If you put it in your bubble mailer first, it's not too hard to forget.
US postage this year is 2.32 for a package (bubble mailer) up to 3 ounces. I do not expect to send back packages, with only small seeds (tomatoes, peppers, etc...), over 3 ounces. A package may go over if I'm sending beans. SunGold requesters can add $1 to cover that purchasing cost, after I confirm an order. As long as that happens, there will be a minimum of 15 seeds, maybe more. I still need to work on international shipping rates and what type of packaging is required for different people. Gary |

As for the first part...post a wish list up to 15 tomato varieties and 3 pepper varieties in the Wanted Varieties forum (same thread title as here). Or, you can PM me your wish list. Every week, or so, I'll be grouping all wish lists into one mega list in alphabetical order. From looking at the mega list, participants will send in the varierties they have, and can spare. There is no requirement to send in a minimum number of varieties matching those on the mega list. If you don't have any on that list, don't worry about it. Several varieties will be requested by more than one participant. So if you see something like this... (12) Margaret Curtain ...it means 12 people are requesting it, so I'd hope to see at least 12 packs come in (just for the wish list part of the swap). Also, people will be using this mega list as ideas for what there wish list will be. It seems the more a variety is initially requested, the more others request it, sort of a snowball effect (although Snowball is rarely requested). Gary |

I understand that you don't have to select any category if you don't want to. Just
post wish list and see what you get, right. Linda |

I think I need to read this going back to the beginning to figure it out lol
I'd just like reds, blacks or pastes, nothing in particular. I definately have Pink Bumble Bee I'll send in for anyone who wants.

There are seven that I chose in my confusion that I would like to change to non-cherry varieties on my list on the other thread. Would that be okay? Second Question: I have some seeds that I want to contribute to MMMM that are tomato seeds. I have at least 10 packs of 10 seeds each of Roma seeds from Burpee, and 10 packs of 10 seeds each of Porter tomato seeds that I have saved and are almost dried (One more week). This is where I kind of get lost: For the ten packs of Roma seeds I send in - I will get back some sort of Paste Tomato seeds? And for the ten packs of Porter seeds I send in - I would get back a smaller sized red tomato seeds? Third Question: I am choosing to send in 2 pepper varieties. I wanted to send in more, but I grew my OP peppers where they could cross pollinate without knowing they could. While I would love to share my banana pepper seeds with everyone - it would really bother me to find out the seeds had been pollinated with Serrano pepper pollen. So I'm only donating from Serrano and Tabasco. I can send in 10 packs of each easily. I will only be donating/sharing 200 pepper seeds - is it still okay to ask for 3 varieties of peppers or should I ask for 2? Last edited by AlittleSalt; September 13, 2014 at 03:23 AM. Reason: Confused, but I think I'm getting it? |

It's OK to change your wish list. Some people make the last change when they send in their paper wish list/sending in list along with their seeds. Making that late change can mean varieties may not get posted online and may not come into the swap. !0 packs of Roma means 10 different paste/canner varieties back. If Porter can take the heat, it can go into the Hot Weather category, or the Red category. As for peppers, Just mark the packs "not bagged". When I finalize rules, I'll let those swapping peppers know to send me a note on whether they only want bagged/isolated pepper seeds, or if un-bagged is OK. I'll be winging the pepper swap, not knowing what will be coming in. It may be wish list varieties, 10 packs of varieties or single packs, or bonuses, or sponsors. Asking for 3 varieties on a wish list is fine. If enough people participate, you'll get back about 20 Hot category peppers, and hopefully wish list ones. |

Gary,
Thanks for doing this again! I missed it last year but got so much back from what I sent in the previous year (first year saving seed.) And there's no way I'm missing it again! Hopefully I can pay back that favor this year with sending in lots of seed packets. Pepper swap sounds good too. I never saved pepper seeds before this year and did not bag blossoms. I don't think I had one bee touch them but I grew a few different varieties right next to each other. |

For the pepper swap, will there be separate hot and sweet options? I didn't bag blossoms either, but have several varieties of both and would like to participate in the pepper swap as well.
