If you can get those barrels 25 feet in the air you can get about 10.75 PSI out of them.

Excellent points Worth. Don't need too much pressure, just enough to go through 1/2 in tubing, a kerrick float valve like this one (http://www.amazon.com/Kerick-Valve-M.../dp/B0077RAP1I) and then fill up a 4 in PVC tube with holes drilled on top for net cups.
The tanks will be tapped with either 1/2 in uniseals (in hand already) or 3/4 in bulkhead fittings (also in hand). Lots of options. Thanks Worth. |

Just remember that each hole will put out a certain GPM and the 1/2 tubing will only be able to supply a certain GPM at a given pressure.
So when you get the amount of holes that add up to the same area as a 1/2 circle You will use up all of your water at zero pressure and just flow. Friction loss is of no consequence due to the fact of the very low velocity and the size of the pipe. It is like the Colorado river drying up before it gets to the Sea of Cortez. It really isn't that complicated but something to think about. Here is a link to all of that crazy information on circles and areas. It will give you an idea of the size holes you can drill and get away with. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...MyFrgzG1vAFoZw Worth |

The part about the little boy scared me. I hope you fence the whole thing in and padlock it.

Gracias mi amigo. Feliz Navidad! I love Jose Feliciano! I can't imagine holiday music without his gift of that song.

And just for you and you know very well who is singing it and one of my faves as I sat here swaying back and forth as it plays, with both big toes going up and down in time with the music.

You dont have to penetrate the barrels if you dont want to. This could be for someone else reading this that dont already have the valves in had too. You can get the same thing by siphoning from the holes in the top. You wont lose any pressure at all. You can go almost to the bottom of the tank up a 90 a nipple a tee to prime a nipple down a vale at the bottom and so on to the containers. Water Tank r.jpg |

So what about you Worth?
You had plenty of time to go fetch a U tube but you were just too darn busy airbrushing and suggsting to Gerardo what he should do with his barrels. So here's another Felciano one just for you and I do know what the lyrics are in English b'c when Charlie Brizzell was growing stuff at our old farm Charlie would sometimes send down to my field several of the Mexicans he had for the summer to help me out with weeds and they would sing this one and several more. So I say to you SMOOCH. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLSFfIqo--c And with this U Tube it's the first time I knew what Feliciano looked like. Carolyn

Gotta love it when you have a response all typed out and the wrong button press makes the page jump to something else and the back button just doesn't recover it. Argh!
Here goes again: You guys are having a great pre xmas morning here. Carolyn: thanks for the song, been privy to what Jose Feliciano looks like since childhood, can't decide if it's a good thing. He sang like a champ. Worth: gracias for the diagram. If there's one thing I don't like to do on the computer is diagrams. Hell on earth for me is working on AUTOCAD all day long. I was not put on this earth to be a graphic designer. Copy editing, on the other hand, I can do all day and be happy. I'm gonna steal some big construction paper from my boy and draw what I have in mind out, since I know you dig playing with circuits and plumbing-irrigation schemes. Today is windy and rainy...my plants will be happy since all the noxious stuff I put on them to make it uncomfortable for the whiteflies will be washed off. Yesterday was a good day for my boy. He turned 4. We have been doing mini celebrations all weekend, and yesterday we took him to the movies to watch "The Good Dinosaur" He ate a monster banana split (with some help of course), got to ride his new bike, and he blew out candles for the 3rd time in as many days. All in all, a pretty good 4. Last edited by Gerardo; December 22, 2015 at 01:05 PM. |
