Hee hee! Karen, are you frozen already? Has the weird warm weather this year played a role for you?

Thank you. They are super common here. How is your weather holding up, Robert?

I think that this my be my first post on this thread but I look at it almost every time there is and update.

Now I have something to contribute.

Salt some butterflies only show up if you plant certain plants.
The Passion fruit is one of them.
I had one get devastated by an infestation of Gulf fritillary.

Worth, I love Gulf Fritillaries!
I have a Rainbow Shower Tree I have been trying to establish. Imported from Hawaii. It gets completely chewed by Sulfur larvae every time it puts out new leaves. Grrr!

No weird warm weather here. Cold as hell and dark by 4:30pm just as it should be
That's what kills the bad bugs and diseases so I don't have to deal with that at least in addition to my short season

"How is your weather holding up, Robert?"

Marsha it has been unseasonably warm/hot for a week or so. Tornadoes nearby yesterday, now it's 40F and wet. Supposed to be dry for a week with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s. In other words -

Perfect tomato and pepper seed starting weather

Marsha, I have been looking every day as well, enjoying the lovely photos but do admit to a sort of silent envy. However, I am thankful for our "rest" season, and as Karen notes, few pests and diseases. Am so glad the days will be getting longer - the dark is more debilitating than the cold. It has been snowing lightly but steadily for about 2 days now and the accumulation and drifting is significant. Those shots of greenery, blossoms and butterflies are a ray of sunshine!

I know that envy well. It happens to me every summer when it's too hot to even think about growing tomatoes here. Thank you for sharing that you are enjoying these. It encourages me.

In the summer I just have to make do with mangoes, starfruit, pineapples and bananas. A fresh garden tomato is a dream at that point.

Yes, I hear your pain Marsha. In the winter I have nothing grown fresh to make do with. I look out the windows and see white, grey and brown. All that I have is the glimpse into your gardens that you share with us to help me dream the months away.

Thanks Patti.

Not very dwarfish at about 4.5 feet, stingy production so far, but look at this almost perfect fruit, wonderful flavor on the sweet side. I took a bite, then saved seeds. Very juicy too. Taste 8.5/10.
