I would have thought that too. But, looking at John's link, and some other poking around I did I guess 10 cents was pretty standard for seeds. I saw that gasoline was also 10 cents a gallon back then, so gas and seed packets have remained pretty close in value through the years.

That's fine Worth. Good subject for your first video as someone uses your own phone to record your visit into a BestBuy or WalMart to purchase that video camera. I'll subscribe.
Go on how things are a 'racket' and 'that's how they get ya' until you settle on the right camera. Teach us viewers things you know and do well. Your previous list of offerings is great. For example, I'll be having a dear friend of ours come over when it comes time to harvest my current tomato seedling harvest! She'll be teaching me how to can tomatoes! Looking forward to getting all the equipment so she can walk me through the process. She said it was easy and I replied that's true when you know how to do it the right way. See, some of us want to learn and seek out those who are in the know. I also subscribe to an Amish channel where I watch the ladies do a variety of things from canning meats to making soap and I live in the concrete jungle of Downtown Dallas where it's a revolutionary act to make something yourself. I find it all fascinating. Give it some thought and perhaps your ramblings and shared experience would benefit others on the Youtube effect. Peace to ya. I looked at seed prices too and many packets didn't have a price.
I also noticed how many seeds were in the packages for ten cents. It is also important to know that not all things have went up in price equally with the rate of inflation. Some have went down compared to the average wage. |

87 year old seeds update?
Since his all-excited update on the sprouting of 1 of the extinct tomato seeds, has anyone seen an update? I checked his FB page and he has posted videos on other stuff but nuttin on the tomatoes.
I saw the original YT video and had my questions too but I usually take everything with a grain of salt. My grandfather told me to do that when I was a kid in the 60's and I have never forgotten it. Ralph |

Looks like their 10 cent pack produced 750 tomato plants. The last Burpee seed pack I bought for the price of about a gallon of gas had 28 seeds or so.

One more: A seed company has no reason to display a full pack of seeds for years and years. They would just display empty packets as they should know well that seeds would lose viability. Then why put a packet of 750s seeds on display ? Hmmm
