What's blooming now?

Super color, y'all! In this area the redbud and Indian Princess trees are now blooming and yesterday I spied the very first azalea blooms, kurumes Snow and Coral Bell. They're always the first out of the gate.

The purple blue flower is Texas mountain laurel.
It smells like grape bubble gum or soda pop.
One of the trees I started from a seed that was about 25 years old I collected from the wild.

Sweet peas just started blooming. My almost 2.5 year old poinsettia is putting out multiple large and small red leaves at the tips of the stems.

The Mount Airy Fothergilla (Fothergilla gardenii) is blooming right now. The bottle brush-like blooms have a light honey scent and appear ahead of the foliage. The fall foliage is fire red. The rest of the year it's a ho-hum green plant but I enjoy those two pretty times a year.

I planted three hanging baskets. The leaves on this variety are variegated.

Peach blooms turned into mystery peaches, only time will tell if they are any good.
While posting this a big ole pileated woodpecker landed in close to me.
But no picture because I had to stay still.

Wow, within the last week Spring is just bustin' out all over. Here are a few things blooming around the house:

'Rosalinda' Indian Hawthorne (Raphiolepis indica), an upright grower I've cut into tree form. It's right by a window and the sweetest scent is floating into the house. I pruned her hard last year and she went nuts with growth last summer and fall. I need to whack her back into shape when she's done blooming. I want my window back!




'Georgia Petite' Indian Hawthorne, a lower grower, compact type. Lighter pink blossoms and not much scent:




'Mrs. G. G. Gerbing' , an indica azalea. These can get pretty large. This one's at the edge of a natural area:



'Major Wheeler' Honeysuckle. This one is on a trellis at the edge of the garden. It will bloom off and on all summer:



Grancy Graybeard tree, also known as Granddaddy Graybeard (Chionanthus virginicus) with it's fringy white flowers which appear as the leaves start to push out. It has a rather scraggly growth habit and I'm considering cutting ti to a small stump and letting the whips form a *large* shrub... or not.

PlainJane, you should be able to grow these with no problem and leave them outside all year.

First thing I planted when we moved in - pink Confederate Jasmine. Not as fragrant as the regular white variety but pretty.
